Just a few shots of shrimping locally...
We call them 'Spots' are around here. Some folks refer to them as 'prawns', I'm guessing that's due to the fairly large size (as shrimp go.)
The hauler set up. It's an 8hp honda turning the hydraulic pump...
How about some shrimping?

SHRIMP DIP!
Man when i showed my Chinese wife those shrimpes, she went right out and bought three dozen live shrimp and the Chinese market, no where near the size of then DAWGS, SHe makes a hot pepper oil dip that is the best, I can't eat shrimp andy other way now. Beautiful catches. Marty
"IRONWOODTUNA" the Alloy Sportfisherman Battleship!
I tend to take lot's of pictures, so occasionally one or two come out nice. That's the beauty of digital cameras. I posted it before, and you'll probably remember once you see it again, but here's the skiff...
There's no number limit on the shrimp, just restricted to the number of pots onboard, which is 10 or 15, I forget. I set them in strings of 5 and the hauler has never complained.

Them Spots do grow to some nice sizes. I had a commercial fishing boat for a couple years and did a little commercial shrimping. Don't mind the wood boat, at least she's not 'glass...
Here's what it looked like as we packaged them up whole...
Then we'd blast freeze them in the hold. Every once in awhile, a real big one would come up...
Perhaps you can share that recipe? My wife is Hawaiian, and does a fairly good job at cooking Chinese food.

Damn shrimp traps, huh.....
If I wants some I gotta go out and throw a cast net till I'm whooped...
That actually looks enjoyable.
I could drag for them, if I wanted to jump thru all the law hoops and get me a small net.
Was thinking about it for next season. All recreational shrimping here is done with a cast net mostly at night.
No one drags a trawl for them recreationally anymore, but I may change that.
I'll be a Hooligan and revive the old school ways.

Great pictures Brian. I do a lot shrimping in Prince William Sound. What a treat! We can only fish 5 pots, though. I would guess that we are fishing a bit deeper, too. I fish 600-800' . The season opens Aprli 14th for us. I cannot wait!
Spending my kids inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.
