2007 Blacklab Marine/Pacific V23ST Selling Price?

#1

Post by rblarrcpa »

Hello! I just joined forum. If this is not allowed, please let me know & I'll delete the post
I bought a 2007 Blacklab Marine/Pacific V23ST new in 2007. Honda 225 555 hours
I'm looking to sell it, but have only a general sense of what price I should sell it for since it is such a unique boat.
What would be a good price to ask for? Thanks for your help.

That's within driving distance of me, so take whatever price people here suggest and subtract 10k from it :-)

Good 1st post and good luck with the sell, I'm thinking somewhere in the 50K to 60K price range.

Is it a center console or center pilot? What electronics, trim tabs, kicker motor, trailer, hours on motor(s). All these will help you get a more realistic valuation…..and pics

This is from Pacific's website but the Blacklab version from those years may be slightly different.

It is the V23 Supertop. 555 hours. Honda 225. One year old Raymarine Axium 9 inch MFD and new Sony Bluetooth stereo. Trailer included. Tires two/three years old.

How do I post pics? I have a bunch of them

Thanks for the help and the compliment. It has been a great boat. My kids have grown and flown. My Pop (fishing buddy) is to old now and the wife doesn't like fishing. My friends don't have time so it is time to sell it. Such is life.

not that its necessarily a deal-breaker but I am curious is there any way/process by which an older boat like this with a hull that looks "broken in" or used....can be revitalized so it looks pretty/polished/smooth like a when it was new?

Absolutely, the aluminum can be lightly sanded and polished to a mirror finish.

Slug420, the shortest answer to your question can these boats be made to look just as the did when originally out of the shop is No. Not exactly like that. But, there a several ways to completely refinish the topsides surfaces to 'erase' the wear and discoloration.

All of them are labor intensive and some are messy and involve pretty harsh chemicals! First, using only power tools you could buff the surfaces and keep buffing over and over- refining the grit size each time- and you could clean the topsides (unless the wear included gouges too deep to 'buff out') to as smooth a finish and high a state of polish as you're willing to invest time (and elbow grease) to achieve.

In fact, I once contracted with an out of work autobody finisher to polish a skiff to a mirror shine. It did take much longer than I'd have spent trying but he was determined to get it polished and he did! Final buffing grit was waxing polish on a sheep's foot type buffing pad!

Another way to get a uniform look is to accept one or another level of machine sanding/buffing pattern remaining in the final finish- so you'd have a swirl or roller drum sander pattern in the final version. But it would be uniform and not irregular like the dock rash shown above.

Additionally, acid etching the hull in combination with various mechanical buffing/sanding schemes will also result in a uniform finish- not original mind you, but will look uniform and not worn.

There are several lacquer like products Nyalec (sp?) & Sharkhide that are applied to the topsides after they've been buffed or and etched to help preserve the finish look.

Not sure if I'm any help, the skiff shown doesn't look like it was etched originally (can't tell exactly) but the many shots of various surfaces that show corrosion 'flowers' makes it seem like it wasn't etched. So just etching and maybe some Scotchbrite (tm) buffing the dock rash a bit might make her look much more presentable?

Cheers,
