6063-t5 vs 6063-t52

I'm going to make a flounder gigging pole for my father in law out of aluminum.
Almost all of the locals use a wood pole of some sort or a NON ALLOY push pole.

It's main use will be for stabbing flat fish in shallow water then lifting up in a fashion to keep them from sliding back off the barbed trident. Then the fish will be laid over the edge of his cooler where he will yank the gig hoping to dislodge the fish into the box.
This will also be used to push the 17' boat around some but the main concern is it bending when lifting the fish, keeping it light enough and strong enough.

The question. My regular suppler carries 6063-t5 vs 6063-t52, what's better for this application?

These are a couple or gig heads I have made in the past for wood shafts. Plan is to use a machine bolt, cap and thread the end of the pole.

G&R,
https://www.makeitfrom.com/compare/6063 ... -Aluminum/
i can't see any difference between the two alloys and tempering treatments- at least not enough to choose one or the other from the info on that link?

However, I would stay with 6061 T6 if you'll be using the pole in salt water as the minuscule amount of copper in '63 does pretty well dissolve the alloy when in salt water constantly.

No doubt '61 could be lighter wall/thinner wall, and remain stronger than the '63 so more suitable as a pole/gig handle?

Cheers,

Thanks

Eastern metal is my regular supplier for anodized material, I try to buy what I can from them.
https://www.easternmetal.com/

Alro metals when I need steel, stainless or metals eastern doesn't carry. https://www.alro.com/

Both have minimum orders for one of their trucks to stop by, but both have trucks in my area daily.
