the pictures resemble a design by George Calkins (of Bartender fame) called the "Clipper" I believe? Not an exact version of the one example of the Calkin's Clipper; but similar. Also looks like the Down East picnic boats you'd see in "Cellulose Boats" magazine?

Sorry no help here.

Wow that's one cool boat what are your plans with it. How did you find such a unique boat? Did the guy you buy it from give you any story on where it came from or what it was used for?

i haven't heard the bartender mentioned for a while. i had one. glass with a leman diesel. i loved/hated that boat. it would do somethings well, others poorly. eg: it was awesome in a following sea, horrible trying to sleep on the hook.

Thank You ! well for now my only plans were to acquire while I had the chance !! lol.. I may try to get the motor running and see if its any good. and probably a repower.. I just have it stored right now at a marina until next spring as I have another boat project in line first..

well while I was switching trailers on my aluminum project boat so I could bring it home everyone was going crazy over it and one guy told me there was a large aluminum boat with a cabin on it kinda like mine has down the road about 10 miles.. he said it looked like some sort of Coast Guard Rescue Boat.. I decided I had to go take a look .. it ended up being at a location that was going to have a auction the following weekend and it was going to be in the auction.. well longer story shorted I ended up with it..

the seller had a variety of ideas of what it could have been but no defiant answer.. his brother bought it in Maine in 2003 with no motor and bought the motor that's on it now.. all the controls are for a Yamaha .. so it must have had a Yamaha on it.. he brough it from Maine to Ohio and was titled there.. all the original paper work from Maine only shows the original serial number was 118 but it was already in use in Ohio so they reassigned a Ohio number to it. the title just shows unknown maker unknown year.. his brother died and gave it the him. he brought it up from Ohio to Michigan and has sat on the trailer ever since..

someone else mentioned these boats too.. I looked them up and some have a slight singularity to them but everyone I see is wood not aluminum.

I too have a unknown the only information I have is that it was built in 1958 in Navy ship yard No2 All aluminum built like a tank. I've been told it was junk. Get rid of it. Start over, I don't know what you see in it. You saw the boat you thought it was cool and you made it happen. And now you own something nobody else has. We have similar taste most people would look at that boat and say who would want that. You said "That boat shall be mine"
Outstanding

I have a Aero Craft JCC I believe its a 1954 the last year made.. I just brought it home from storing it over the winter at the same marina that I have this boat at now.. the JCC It was hiding about 2 1/2 miles out in the woods where no one could see it for at least 26 years.. I was told by the previous owner that it was a Detroit River Police Boat. I really didn't believe him.. but upon cleaning it up some I found ghost lettering showing it was at some point in its life a Detroit Police Boat !! the original trailer was not road worthy and we had to pull the whole thing on a flat bed car hauler to move it.. here's some photos of it.. when I found it, on the car hauler, cleaning it, first launch in at least 27 years, and on another trailer for the ride home.. the "JCC" stands for Junior Cabin Cruiser ..

The tumblehome seems extreme. What is the benefit?

Those are both really interesting designs. What are their LOAs? What is the purpose of the dual keels? I would also like to see the interior of the JCC.

the Aero Craft JCC is 18.5' long and the other one is 22.5' long.. the dual keels I don't know the purpose ..but it also has two more runners one on each side on the dual keels from about center to stern.. there aren't many of these on the internet but from what I have read from other owners they go though fairly rough waters with ease and are very manurable .. these came in either Deluxe or standard versions.. standard was only aluminum and Deluxe had a Mahogany paneling interior .. mind has the Mahogany interior in need or replacing.. here are a couple other JCC's that are restored or in the process of being restored.. one is Mahogany the other the owner chose to do his in Baltic Birch.. the second to the last photo is the boat with the Mahogany interior.. the last boat is no longer in existence .. to bad it got scraped probably got bent up dropping it on the pile.. and a original ad for them.. and the stern hull

You say your new to boating? I think you have a fantastic future in finding and selling unique boats with the two boats that you've shown us. Some people spend their whole lives and find one unique boat. You have TWO you do realize if you add a third it will be called a collection.

Thank You !! do you have any photos of your navy ship ??
I have always liked boats and several years ago I bought my first boat a 14" aluminum fishing boat.. I keep it a year or two and sold it. last year I bought a 1950s 14' Dual Cockpit Arkansas Traveler boat from a small local on line auction with plans to replace some wood and strip what paint was on it and polish the whole boat.. the polished Dual Cockpit boats really catch my eye.. so... I do have 3 LOL ..
then along comes the Aero Craft JCC and when I saw it I said what the heck is that ?? with big eyes !! it was about an hour and a half away from me and I had to call on it.. I worked out a deal and started to try and find out what it was.. ending up finding out it was a Aero Craft JCC made from 1947-1954 in Saint Charles, Michigan about 30 miles from where I live !! My Arkansas Traveler got covered up and this boat took first place in order of my attention ..
then of coarse while bringing this marvel home.. my newest acquisition stepped into my life !! it of coarse is so unique I just couldn't bring myself to pass it by for the money it went for.. so these boats all came into my life in less then a year !! I've found a few others I was very tempted to buy but ended up passing on.. so yes I'm new to boating, but not liking cool things !! lol

Here's a few pictures of mine it was designed as a brown water river boat with twin diesels and jet drives she sits in about 9 inches of water her bottom plate is half inch thick and welded every 6"s in both directions down the length of the hull. According to the US government in 1984 it was destroyed at naval Base Everett in Washington State. I found it years ago buried in the woods after removing thousands of pounds of concrete and crab traps and trees and after 3 days of digging we dragged it out of its grave. The day she got pulled up on the flatbed I named her Left 4 Dead

WOW !! that is cool !! and what a great story and appropriate name !! it must weigh a lot.. did the engines still turn over ??
before I found this last boat I went to look at a 1950s Lone Star cruiser and I ran across this all steel boy. It was tempting but it had a few rust holes in the hull and quite heavy etc. etc. I still love it and what great lines !! to bad it was left neglected for so long.. I guess you can't save them all..

I found this picture online he's got your boat and then he's got a mini boat lol.
Unfortunately the motors were roached as well as the drives. I ended up ripping everything out of it fuel tank and all starting off from scratch it's the only way to know that it will be done right.

Yes I've seen that photo as well.. I've read some about it.. it seems to have been a experimental model that was longer then the standard models and added extras such as a head and sink..

so your boat was abandoned .. was it on private land and the owner gave it to you ?? how did you get it registered ?? just wondering .. its a great story..

Yes I found it abandoned on private land I went and talked to the owner of the property it was an old man he said his son dropped it off there sometime in the early 90s I asked him it was for sale and he said everything's for sale lol so after I made the deal I told him I'd be back the next weekend with the equipment and a flatbed. After a couple of months of frustration trying to figure out how to register it I was told if I welded something on the boat I could then register it as a homemade vessel so I did just that and the state issued me a homemade boat hull number
