I'm new to the site and just got a small (16ft) aluminum rowboat that I'm throwing a 3-5hp gas motor on ( once I find one that's in good shape ).

It needs a few repairs from dents, the wood needs to be redone, paint & pretty much everything but new aluminum. It's mine though and I hope to get a good bit of use out of it.

zethreal, welcome to the AAB.com Forum, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have questions that you think we may be able to help answer.

Pictures of anything aluminum that floats are always welcomed.

cheers,

I'll try to get some pictures tonight. I'm almost embarrassed by how it looks. It's a god awful teal with a deep green pond scum growth up to the water line.

I'll make a post with pictures & more information in the appropriate area once I get pictures.

Welcome to AAB. Enthusiasm, I like it. What is your home port?

I'm just off Lake Ontario. I typically fish/boat in some smaller ponds with boats I've borrowed, since they've all been human-powered. Once it's fueled by liquid dinosaurs, I'll be hitting the finger lakes & Lake Ontario. It's aluminum, but still a small boat & it just gets towed anywhere.

So, I exaggerated it a bit. I didn't just purchase it. It has been in the family for almost 40 years. My father has had exclusive ownership of it, but it is now mostly my project. It has sat, upside down, on a boat trailer since 2008 and was upside down under a tree near a marsh for 20 years before that.

I did a bit of research on it & it's an old 16' Ouachita aluminum boat. Sorry I haven't gotten any pictures, but I've been trying to get my boat trailer to not look like it's fresh from a Mad Max movie set. Mostly sanded, next job is the rust-sealant paint.

Anything that gets you out on the water is good. The simpler, the better. Enjoy your family heirloom.
