Posting pictures using photobucket

Post by Daddy'O »

OK fellow AAB’ers

Try these instructions for posting pictures using photobucket. The site is free.

First, you must register to use photobucket. http://photobucket.com/ Once REGISTERED and LOGGED IN, you will need to perform the following:

The BROWSE button on the photobucket screen will retrieve a picture off the hard drive of your PC.

Once you click the BROWSE button a new window will open showing the MY PICTURES directory on your PC. The new window will be titled CHOOSE FILE.

Select the picture you wish to upload and click on the OPEN button in the lower right of the screen. Clicking the OPEN button will place the picture (in text form) in the box to the left of the BROWSE button you selected earlier.

Add a title if you wish. If you wish to upload multiple pictures simply repeat the above steps using the additional BROWSE buttons before selecting the UPLOAD button.

When you are ready to upload, select the UPLOAD button. Be patient, especially if you are on a dialup connection. Photobucket will let you know when the image or images have successfully uploaded. You will also see the image(s) on the photobucket screen.

To post a picture on AAB you must select the IMG CODE. The IMG CODE is last selection underneath your picture in photobucket.

Select IMG CODE, right click your mouse and select COPY. (Do not copy & paste the picture itself, you must select and copy the IMG CODE in order to embed the image into a message thread.)

Next, you will paste the copied IMG CODE into your message. To do this, go back to the post reply box in AAB, place your cursor where you wish the picture to be, right click your mouse and select PASTE.

You will see something similar to this:

[IMG]http://…photobucket.com/albums…………………….jpg[IMG]

When you are finished with your reply, select PREVIEW to test. If you like what you see, Select SUBMIT. Your done! :)

You can upload as many pictures as you like into photobucket. You can copy as many different IMG CODES as you like over to a message board thread.

Please note: when posting images, please “Stack” the IMG CODES as shown below:

If images are “Strung” together, the screen will be distorted! Please don't “String” the IMG CODES as shown below:

I hope this is useful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I saw this reminder on the FNN message boards in regards to your Photobucket account settings.
I guess it defaults as "public" (anyone can see your photo albums)
They were recommending you switch it to "private"
Here's how:
Note: One suggestion I have is to set your album(s) to "private". You can do this by clicking on "account options" and then "album settings". Setting your album(s) to "private" will insure that only the photos you choose to share will be seen by others.

With PhotoBucket, you can also choose from several different formats when creating photo albums to share with friends through a simple email link. We keep in touch with family & friends that way by sending them the latest pics in a PhotoBucket slide show on a regular basis. All free!

Thanks guys.

I'm new to this and really needed to add pictures to my thread in order to have my questions answered. Your instructions and Photobucket worked great. Thanks

You should be able to just paste the IMG code directly into the body of the post. Is that not working for you?

OK. I thought you were trying to upload pics from PB to your post. I get the same "Enter path & file Name" comment when I try to upload pics from my PB account to my AAB album. No workee. If you upload directly from your computer to the album it should work.

Yah, tell me about it. I opened a photobucket account, spent 30 minute loading pictures to photobucket just to find out that I should load them directly to AAB from my pc. :banghead: Learning experience I guess.

Yeah – the only way I know to load photos from PB to your AAB personal album is to select a photo from your PB album, click it, then right click the enlarged photo and select the “save picture as” option. Save the picture to your PC, use the AAB personal album browse feature and upload the photo. I think the photos must be a JPEG file for the AAB personal album browser to see it.
