Last year I bought a Marytr Mini Divers Dream zinc with an aluminum bolting plate embedded in the zinc anode. This year they seem to have only the mild steel bolting plate version.
The aluminum plate seemed like a really good idea as there was no dis-similar metal contact on the all important anode to hull contact so the electrical contact was preserved as the zince metal anode section erodes away.
Anybody have any idea if a similar aluminum plate in zinc anode is still made? Salesman told me that they now make an all aluminum version of the Divers Dream for use on Aluminum boats - is this true?

Re: Mini Divers Dream Zincs
I did a write-up on the anodes I use now:
http://aluminumalloyboats.com/viewtopic ... inc#p22814
These have the mild steel inserts for mounting (never heard of aluminum inserts in these, actually).
The rationale for the steel plate is that once secured with the ss bolt the plate will never loosen under the nut like an all-alloy anode. The steel provides a better, non-wasting mount surface and as a result maintains better electrical contact with the hull over the life of the anode. I love 'em.

Re: Mini Divers Dream Zincs
I just hauled the boat in my sig to throw on a quick coat of bottom paint as it was thinning in spots after two years (soft ablative). The zinc anodes on this boat are wasting away properly and the hold-down nuts are still tight because the steel insert plate inside the anode hasn't degraded one bit. Yes, I will replace them but point is don't be put off by anodes with steel inserts, they work bitchen (remember that word old farts?).

Good pic Chaps and good advice not to worry about a wee bit of steel!
What kind of paint is that soft ablative? So far the only Al compatible antifouling in Canada is Trilux II or Trilux II.

Chaps, if ya still have her outa the water and some time you should throw up some more pics of the boat. I love that boat, boy that would make a heck of a charter boat round here, even. What's the beam again? 9 foot?
