Trailering cover
Trailering cover
For us highrise ragtop fellas it puts a strain on the canvas and bows when trailering and has lots of wind resistance when rolling down the road. So I had a trailering cover made. It covers the windshield and the cockpit. Didn't do the open bow area as that would have taken so much more labor and canvas work it just wasn't cost effective, anyway there isn't anything up there that really needs to be covered. The rag top folds up nicely and lays back under the cover...so ti makes it somewhat easy to hoist up when going out. It is made from that good stuff, Sunbrella. It is a nice snug fit and works well. He did a nice job, he is near Cabella's off of I 5 north of Olympia, WA.
With the extra fabric he had left over he made me a motor and flagstaff cover and a red faced plastic backed prop cover no extra charge...this guy has my vote any time.
He even put a second layer where the wipers will rub. Capt PJ

Re: Trailering cover
Capt Pj Nice cover. It should protect the windshield too. Last year I had a rock or a BB take out the center one on a return trip throu the Tulalip Ind. Res.
Now you just need a dehumidifier it it to keep the algae and mold in check.

Re: Trailering cover
Funny you mentioned that. I was watching it rain and the water running off and wondered about air circulation under the cover. I remember using a golden rod in another boat to keep the damp caused issues from manifesting..it worked...wonder where I put it! Another thing as soon as I do some back yard clean out I'll be able to back under a shelter that is presently a storage area. If you notice near the aft section the top widens to cover the aft gunnel with d-rings, I could prop them open when stored and allow air to circulate, too. After I use it for the coming trip, I will probably have the canvas guy install some of those clamshell vents near the higher windsheild end...I have seen them on covers, justy have to find the clamshell made for that purpose. I'll be heading to warmer climes soon along the Gulf and over to FL hopefully. Don't tell Jettywolf that I may be showing up in his backyard...I want it ot be a surprise!
BTW, Anyone need a belly tank...I have two 30 gallon (used) and 34 gallon (new) that would help to get rid of some stuff under my shelter. Capt PJ

Re: Trailering cover
These Chimney vents/pole sockets do a good job of ventilating under cover while keeping the elements out.

You got a link to those pole vent devices...sounds like the ticket! THX Capt PJ

My neighbor has a canvas shop, I'll stop and see who makes them and where he gets them.pjay9 wrote:You got a link to those pole vent devices...sounds like the ticket! THX Capt PJ
