Thinking and Planning

#1

Post by aluminumdreamer »

I've got some time on my hands this week before I start my new job and I can't help not thinking about my boat. It looks like things are going to be turning around here for me and I will be getting the boat back together for the summer. It is still too cold to go out and cut it apart and weld it back together now but it is on my mind. I think I am going to cut the outboard bracket off and build a new one when I weld up the bottom where the old jet intake was. The bracket on the boat now is pieced together and looks like a poorly thought out piece of junk. My plan is to incorporate the bracket into the bottom panel of the boat like the Coldwater hulls.

I was just wondering if any of the builders here have any pictures of brackets being built so I could see how they are put together internally? I am curious to see how they are constructed and where to brace and gusset.

I won't be getting back into the project for a couple of months but I just want to start planning and gathering ideas.

Thanks guys,

Nate

Not a bracket but the pic shows how the transom is beefed up to handle the weight of the engine.

I'll try to get out today and take some before the snow flies.

That picture is very helpful. The part that the outboard actually bolts to is what had me curious but I see that has a bunch of pieces welded inside. Thanks.

Keep the info coming, thanks for the help guys.

I also got some great ideas from the boat show pictures posted by CWB. Thanks.

Ya mean like my 26' Pacific? I believe the CW's are a a little out of both yours and my...league. :rotfl: :rotfl:

The BLM site used to have some nifty photos too. I had them all saved but went to a new lap top and said hell with saving all those pics. I'll start fresh.

Here ya go....ya just have to let yer fingers do the walkin'.

When I built mine, I went back and forth on the hull extension and the delta pad/flat bottom version just below water line and went this route for the quick planing capabilities that are claimed by Armstrong Marine in a similar designed bolt on unit.
I cant say which is better but hopefully I'll know soon enough
