The original glass will be reused. Laminated safety glass will be added to the top five windows with tempered safety for the other 7. cutting the floors today or should I say starting to. ran around in the afternoon looking for my glass and rubber gaskets after I made a pattern of my window cutouts.

One change I have made is I will reuse my Marine plywood floor instead of going to Aluminum Floor. The wood is significantly heaver than the Sheet. The cabin I estimate at 350lbs and the plywood ( 1") to sheet difference would make it to top heavy minus a 150lbs at the waterline. I can not weld in the Aluminum floor do to some minor Corrosion issues that will have to be monitored and attended to on occasion

I am in the process of getting ready for paint. This weekend I want to finish the fairing of the seams. sand it down, wash, back it back in the garage and remove the trailer. The last fabrication item is the spray rail on the front. Starting at the fwd vertical rail supports; extending back to the windshield 8" tall tapering down to the deck. Paint will be Zolatone (midnight blue and royal blue)

I did get all of my glass cut and the rubber seal gasket. A 50' roll from NAPA. I added the top rails to hold onto. After climbing around on the sides I found my Idea of using the pipe along the edges not the best Idea. The radar support is my interpretation of Wooldridge's mount on their 26' pilothouse

Are you talking the pilothouse cabin? yes will keep me out of the wind and rain out here in the PNW.
That is my shop I built next to my house. It is a 30' X 36' X 19' tall Web Steel Building from Sandy OR. I built it in 2006. The exterior of it matches my house. It has insulation and a house furnace to keep it toastie 60 degrees while working it. My youngest son (23yrs) is the interior decorator (thinks it is his shop) In 2008 I added the 26' X 24' carport to the east side to cover my boat and camper. I waited 29 years to get it. Dreamed for 20 years while moving around the country and overseas while in the USAF and after buying my house trying to convince the wife that I needed it for the other 9 years. Every month she shows me the electric and gas bill to prove here point. :skillet: :deadhorse:

update tonight when I get home and post some pictures of my progress. Was going to paint this weekend but Saturday has showers/rain in the forecast.

Pictures are finally posted of the Diamond plate covering the bow. I cut out the floor and enclosed it to ensure that the 60 gallons of water that it could hold will flow overboard. It will be left unpainted. a little bright at first but should dull up quick enough. The forward bilge bulkhead repair. The rest of the pics are of the surface corrosion. Basically where ever the paint was scratched, drilled, or cut into I have areas of corrosion. They are sanded and will be cleaned with Aluminum Brightener from NAPA then Alodined. I will show the same areas after treatment. Last two pictures are of the back bulkhead showing a view forward. The awe Doo-doo handles are visible.

I have to ask a question why didn't you just cut off the windshield and start from scratch? I think the lines would have looked better I am not trying to insult your work what you have done looks nice I just think it would have looked better from scratch with a new house.

Amount of work to relocate the helm.

Some more pictures of the progress. I wanted a new design on my radar mount. I saw the 26' wooldridge pilot house on youtube liked it so i fabed one up. It also will house the horn.

I pulled the boat out yesterday Sunday to rinse the inside of the boat out after I used aluminum brightener on it. My driveway is a steep one.

Painting has commenced. I bought a 1/2 gallon pot spray kit from TCPglobal. Not impressed at all with it. Had corrosion plus heavy grease through out the gun and pot. Could not get it to spray at all. I understand it is made in the PRC. Still bought it from an American Company down in San Diego off of EBay. Borrowed another one a Binks this time for the color top coats. To paint the etch primer I used a HVLP I had hanging in the shop. A friend of my son; Rory Volunteered to do the honors of the paint work. We messed around for 2 hours trying to get the pot sprayer working before we went to the HVLP gun. Finished around 6 pm and cleaned up Used 3 quarts of paint and 3 quarts of reducer. In the morning We will start the ball rolling with spraying the Zolatone Epoxy Primer. I have 1 gallon of it on hand along with the gallon of reducer. After witch we will start the top coat of Zolatone color is in the picture below. The first around 40 psi and the last one at 30 psi to get the splatter effect. Also have 3 lbs of walnut shell, ground up for anti-skid along the sides on the cabin. After the first coat I will sprinkle had heavy coat of the shell let it sit then sweep off of the extra and then spray it one more time. then lock the doors after I turn up the heat. I hope you like the pictures. I did not post the one of Rory giving the BD salute here if you want to see that one come over to the WA. It is Painted and that Zolatone is a pain in the rear to paint and match and I used 2.5 gallons. The epoxy primer used 1.5 gallons to put two coats on it.

AT Yes it is sprayed on using a Pressure pot sprayer. I bought one off of eBay and it was corroded even though it had grease in it. I ended up using the new pot after it was cleaned and I had to borrow a different gun do to the gun not spraying properly. The stuff is thick, you need a spray gun with a spray tip 2.0 to 2.4 mm. it comes out heavy and you need two coats to cover everything. I needed 5 gallons to cover the boat adequately, or spray a blue color coat then the Zolatone on top of the color coat. live and learn. Now I am putting Her back together so I can go fishing.

AT it's winter blackmouth fishing on right now. A couple of derbies coming up. The Little Buddy heater kept me warm when trolling last year. Two more weeks and I should make it out for a shake down cruise.

Goatram was wondering what your performance numbers were Pre-pilot house and what they will be. Your opinions on drift characteristic changes. I always wondered about how much drag a wheel house has at drift and running. Your project is looking really awesome     Looking forward to the installed windows and shakedown report.

Keep warm

Mark before I put the trim tabs on and it was flat calm I would get 46 mph on the speedometer. now with the speedometer inop and a new gps I was getting 44mph. The sea trials are coming either next weekend or the one after. The first Sea trials will be a calm day. after that a little wind to answer your question

My son as the day off and he is installing the windows to night. The original bottom are in stalled and he is inwork on the top five. I am working on installing a fwd bilge pump. I have reinforcement plates 3" above the C/L V at the fwd bulkhead that was cracked and repaired. I am also laying out the parts around the boat as I pick them up to speed things along Saturday's Jam session

to catch up with the latest on the boat. Background I found this site two years ago following a thread on wiring a boat. Do not remember which one but the guy was from down under and it look sweet. I will not show you under my dash. Its bad enough that I am showing my battery box. It looked a hole lot worse yesterday when I started cutting and throwing bad butt splices. As I have said before I am the Second owner and the Stearn had to be rebuilt back in "05" for cracks.

Wiring is 95 percent done. I have about ten more splices to do the wire is hanging ready to do in the morning. Then clean the mess up (remove the tools and supplies) to put the floor down. Wednesday is when I take it down to fuel it and get it weighed.

The battery charger is in, which required the battery switch to be moved along with the Circuit breakers. I confiscated the my DW's old plastic cutting boards to mount the charger and switch on. I mounted up the two batteries. Still on hold for two battery connectors as you can see in the picture.

The Ram mount did not work out. I mounted the FF without it and it now stays out of the way. Outdoor Emporium had the Lowrance Duel Frequency Transducer in stock. I sent my Daughter down to pick it up before she came to visit this afternoon. It is now installed. Long day and more work will be done to get the boat done.

Splash on Sunday 28 Feb. She will be reborn  :scuba:

It was kinda tight. and she extracted some blood and pain getting everything tucked up into the compartment. :hammer: The battery charger is a large one that took up space on the starboard side. A woulda shoulda kinda thing, I bought the charger out of Cabela's discount basement sale area. A good one but not the smallest one out there. A plus is it works on all battery types; plug it in when I get home and pull the plug when I am going fishing. The new batteries are not as tall as a standard one is. It was easier to place and remove.

I have one too....a Pro-mariner 10/10 on my AGM's. And have the plug in one of those nice lil slotted plug holder thingies with the cap over it in the side of the console. Back'er into her house give a spirtz with the hose and plug her in.

Have always had chargers on all my boats. Not wanna be one of the egg heads at the boat ramp with a dead battery on the boat ramp in the morning. Jus' in case.

Boat was weighed today. Weight difference from 3 months; 420 lbs. Added things from last weight is my radar, lights, antenna, 2 ea. batteries and one battery charger. around 130 lbs. So my weight estimate of 300 to 350 was spot on to the low side.

I took the boat over to the Glass Doctor in Arlington. He replaced my center window and fit the two side windows this afternoon. I will pick it up in the morning and pay him a Hundred dollars. I will let him order another roll of Rubber Seal and when it comes in I will schedule a time for him to remove and replace the seals on the new windows. It is harder to install than I thought.

I still need to spend Saturday installing my seats and tightening up the all of the little things. Sunday morning Troy and Myself will go to Lake Goodwin and launch it and try it out first. We will take it to the salt (Everett) after we verify all systems are a go.
