Took the Cape May to Lewes,DE ferry so we could head along the shore and onto the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

It was a good crossing. Breakwater at Lewes. Pilot boats on the DE side at Lewes.ImageImage
Hooray! ALLOY!!!!Check the teeth and the rub rail system...I am going to do that to my boat...no more fenders to mess with at the ramps. Yes will carry them for rafting and other such times.
Hope you are enjoying my adventure. Capt PJ

Moving along the shore of VA...it was cold and windy..our goal on this leg is to get to Kitty Hawk visiting much in between.
WWII lookout tower.

Cold along the coast and windy!

Took my uniform along just in case I need to do an interview...if I can make part of this trip a business trip then the taxes will be helped...always thinking!
Approaching the Bay Bridge.

After getting to the other side we went to Newport News and visited the mariner's Museum...what an interesting place. The Monitor turret and replica of the Virginia (Merrimac to us Yanks) is there and loads of other displays. Go if you are so inclinded...it will be worth the effort! Some of the models were of ships that my grandfather told me about. He was a Captain with a British ticket and lost 5 ships form torpedoes in WWII...one of those ships was during the famous Murmansk run across the North Atlantic. He went to sea as a boy from Scotland when there was still sail...he taught me all the sails names...do you think I can remember them now...anyway just being at the museum was a thought provoking experience.

Monitor turret replica the real one is in a pickling vat to prevent decay.

We made it to Kitty Hawk the next day and it rained some of the time...I think that was our third day that we had rain the was during the day. Imagine the Wright Bros doing all their work in Dayton Oh and then coming here to fly as the wind and location made it possible...what a journey with all the stuff to build a flying machine at the turn of the century. Also think about it...it took 66 years to get to the Moon after the flights at Kitty Hawk...WOW!!!ImageImageImageImageImage

Enjoying all the pictures of your trip.

The some containers on hatch #1 were damaged, but the seas around the containers at hatches 8 & 9 were done with photoshop by a bored but talented radio operator.

Bet you all thought i had fallen off the face of the earth. Well it has been the access to good wifi connection to get images uploaded to Photobucket. And there hasn't been all that much to report regarding boats and planes. I am outside of Houston ready to go to the Space Center...then I will go onto San Antonio, Austin and maybe Padre Is.
Am I going to be close to anyone? Capt PJ

I left there and drove down I-45 to I-10 on home. I left around 11 this morning and just got home about 20-30 minutes ago..... (Got over there Thursday night)

While visiting my friend in Oak Ridge TN we went tot the Energy Museum which was about the building the bomb. For all the flioks that worked there in WWII there had to be some recreation and i found this pictuce of an early pontoon boat...check the filling of the OB with a can and the vintage of the motor.
