There are so many directions to go with a name...

I asked my wife and son for help naming my new boat and my son said "Tripple - D" because all our names start with D. So "Tripple - D" it is!

I always thought the metal monster was a cool name...the letters were a bit large for my taste though.

To start: maybe list some favorite songs or lost loved ones to tribute, ar relate the name to your local geography or quarry.

People point at me and say, look at that big metal boat.

So I just refer to mine as "Big Metal", it's unofficial but you can have it if ya want.

Because I be the Jettywolf, really.

Its a great name. My wife threw it out there after we (she) had already already named ours Tin Cup, my 20' Pacific is more of a Tin Cup so I kept it. Figured I'd offer up Precious Metal for a local in need.

On a side note, I'm planning on having some work done on the boat this winter. Can you recommend a good local welder. I was planning on working with RK Welding in Hingham, but still looking around.

Okay...boys.

No offense, but Precious Metal sounds like what a woman would come up with.

If it was between the two, I'd stick with Monster, and leave off Metal. In just smaller letters, much smaller than previously.

The boat is manly, is it not? I certainly think so...but this is from a bachelor, no-kids, no plans on kids or a wife. Just plans for chillin out bubba in the fish box.
Eating lunch on the run, and if I found even one doilie, curtain, or box of tampax on the boat.

Well, I just don't know what kind of tyraid I'd go into.

Tin Cup, I researched a few local welders & know a few. Kentfab in Hanover has been in buisness for years and does excellent work.. you may have to wait for it though. Do a google on them & ck. out their website. They have worked on 3 boats of mine includeing welding my thru-hull on my Pacific. I was also refered to CMI in Weymouth by a very reputiable NON ALLOY shop owner. I trust his opinion but have not used them. If you need anymore info let me know. Where in Ma. are you ?

Hi v26wa,

I'm in Upton (next to Hopkinton) and have been trailering mostly to Boston Harbor or Narraganset, depending on the weather. I called Kentfab a few weeks ago, they never called me back. I will check into CMI. I got a good feeling from the guy at RK Welding in Bourne, he specializes in aluminum welding almost exclusively.

Tin Cup:

I was shooting the breeze with the owner of Stanley Boats at last year's Providence Boat Show. He was really excited about a welder in the Rhode Island area, but I didn't get his name. It was of particular interest to Stanley Boats from a support standpoint. If he sold boats in the NE area he would depend on this welder for warrantee work. I'll contact Stanley Boats to see if they can provide that reference.
