Cope Winter Harbour Build Complete
So the build is now complete...
I tried to get the pics up here on AAB but after downloading them all the files were too big. I will try again later but for now they can be viewed on my Facebook site under Bonsell Welding. Check it out.
The Build went well and I am very pleased with the design. I have been wanting to do a build for some time, I just hadn't found the right boat. After many trips to the boat show and a lot of research I found Cope Boats Design. All the alloy boats at the Seattle boat Show were either too big or too expensive with amenities I don't need. I was looking for something I could trailer and launch alone, but still had the space and fishablilty to load full of friends, fuel, and ice, and go off-shore.
I have to admit that I was concerned about how the ride would be. The design is very cab-forward and I didn't want to "pound"(This is the word NON ALLOY guys use to discourage would be alloy guys from going with Aluminum). I am pleased to say after having been out in some considerable chop the ride is amazing. The design consists of the perfect amount of dead rise and chine. My wife commented on the ride being amazing while holding our 11 month old in her arms sleeping while blasting through 3 foot chop.
I powered the boat with a Honda 250 which is way more than is needed. But bigger is better. She cruises at 30 mph @ 3600 rpm. Not sure what the top speed is yet. I went with the UFLEX steering system and it seems to work great.
I was amazed at how well the Kit came together, and the accuracy of the cuts and design. This boat has ample deck space, self bailing design, and a built in live well/Balast tank for fishability and ride. The fuel tank is 100 gallons. Check out the pics and let me know what you think!

Very Nice. I like it.
Re: Cope Winter Harbour Build Complete
hip, nice boat and love your state. My wife and I just got back from Haleiwa where we stayed for a long week on our 25th anniversary. I stayed in a home right by the harbor. I got several pics of a LAConner Boat Works alloy boat that was used for crab fishing. Spoke to the fisherman/owner a couple of times about fishing and his boat. Real nice guy.
Again nice boat.
Again nice boat.

Re: Cope Winter Harbour Build Complete
Let me back up.....
You were in Hawaii. Had a Pacific built...were even deemed a Hawaii dealer/rep. Did something with wrought Iron or something over there???
Left Hawaii, came back sold the Pacific. I'm guessing because you needed a "fort"?
Now, you had a kit built by a fabricator? You like your new boat. Hawaii is a no more?
And that's a pic of it all done??
Am I anywhere near correct??
I'm straining my memory. And it hurts. So fill us in again.
Join, photo bucket and resize pics, or take Mega-lops size setting OFF your camera, then save to "your documents".
Then you should be able to "upload" pics no problemo.

Jetty wolf,
Parts were correct. Back up a little. Grew up in Washingon, met a hula dancer that led me to Maui. Learned to weld Aluminum started a side buisiness welding and marketing Pacific Boats in Hawaii. I say side buisiness because my primary job was being a paramedic. Did that for 10 years over there and 3 years ago came home (back to Washington) with my now 3 Kids and Maui bride.
Sold my Pacific 2 years ago to buy a house, bought a 15 foot Arima to hold me over. 3 weeks ago completed my first build wich is the Cope you see in the pics. I am currently a Firefighter/Paramedic in Bremerton and still have a side buisiness welding ( all aluminum Railings, Racks, Towers, Rocket Launchers ect). There it is a nut shell.
I did have help with the build from a friend of mine that is an amazing fabricator. Learned a lot and I'm loving the boat. Can't beat summer in the North West!

May be selling 23 Cope. Wanted to post here first.
I may be selling this beautiful boat and I wanted to post here first. It's been a excellent year of fishing. I absolutely love this boat and have countless hours into its construction. As you can see from following the build here on this forum it's a 2012 23 foot Cope winter Harbour. The motor is a 2012 Honda 250 with a 9.9 Honda kicker. 100 gal fuel tank. New Scotty down riggers and a new Simrad sounder. $62,000. Please call, text or pm for additional photos/information.

Kevin, I'd suggest you put up a post with better pictures in the "for sale" section here on the site.

Great job on the new ride, nothing quite like heading west in the boat you've built with your own hands. Good on you Bro
