AMF 770 Hardtop Cabin this is the biggest of our Pro Sport Series models. As you can see this boat is sitting on an AMF Alloy Trailer. 6mm Hull Plates, 5mm transome, 5mm floor, 4mm sides. The finish is a chemical wash with Nyalic Clear Coat

That's a "finish"??

Chemical wash? I'd love to hear more about what that is all about, cause if that's just a "finish" and not a paint job...again I'm blown away with how nice that looks.

Dave that acid wash can be done to your hull , the Sharkhide Co. has the info on that .

The acid will turn it to a dull white then the Nyalic then gives it a shine.

Purdy cool , Yea..

acid wash/nyalic

If you have some one that can do this finish for you get them to do it dont try it your self, we have had a few hundred boats to practice on :-) plus it isnt nice stuff to handle.

It has a few short comings like washes off with fuel spillages and rubs off on the hard wear areas like side decks.

As aluminium boat purists we prefer this finish to paint. It is easier to repair and over all it keeps an aluminium boat looking pretty good, while still remaining a practical work boat.

Cheers

Absolutely the way to go then, our smallest boat is a 565 and we sell this as mill finish but dont nyalic it.

When you touch up a mill finished nylic coated boat does it blend well?

We like Acid wash look, but would love to get away from handling it.

We tried a two pack clear system once but found it terrible, flaking off and making mess.

The nyilac needs to be touched up quickly if it is rubbed off.

Some use another finish and it works very well , it has been around for years and the boat owner can keep a can on board to touch up as needed.
