Getting ready to install my Rupp 15' Outriggers

Any hints, precautions, do's & don'ts????

Boat is a 23' Pacific V235HT

I'll be coring a 2 1/2" hole through the flush gusset under the HT and up through the roof skin. Then through bolting the flange plates with (4) 5/16" SS bolts per flange.

The original top gun

with standard elbows or radial

or the Z-30?

or one of the other riggers

gandrfab,

I purchased these (used) from a guy I crossed paths with on line. He said he hated Rupp Riggers and sold them cheap. I made the weld in tubes, and am currently making up two flange plates which I will weld to the tubes then bolt to my hardtop

Never used these so I'm assuming the "finger" clamp on ring is what stops the elbows/pole from drifting from my spreader bar tension......

nice good set
Thing to keep an eye on is the metal on metal
It can gaull and lock up
after salt water use good rinse
every few trips out open the clamp handle and lube

How thick is your hard top?

The top skin is 3/16 thick alloy of course :D

The one thing that bothers me is that the poles aren't pinned into the elbows. I may add a pull pin as a safety precaution...........

yes
and this is hard for me to explain on a keyboard
the handle is also suppost to work like a cam lock

and that screw in with lock nut on the bottom of pic
goes through a slot in the pipe to turn the elbow
can't tell with it put together

with the out rigger lines clipped to the boat the poles can't come out

It has worked well for me to find a spot where the outrigger
line are snug in the out position and back position

Do you run your arms straight out or do you run them slightly pointing aft or towards the stern?

Do you single rig or double rig them?

They came complete with all the rigging........

Do you run your arms straight out or do you run them slightly pointing aft or towards the stern? I lock them strait out with the pull from the lures and or bait thay tend to go aft some

Do you single rig or double rig them? I like the single rig my self
but fishing with them double is not to hard

Well I'll be trolling 4' Spreader Bars with 15-13" squid. The poles are 1 1/2".........hope they will handle the bars.

Also they are the fixed poles not the collapsible like the Taco poles

Every one does stuff different
if for teasers I would run the line to the first eye
when the big one is on pull the bars right to the eye
let them hang up in the air out of the way

and I would run a single line to the tip for fishing

I think pulling that much from the end would make for a short rigger life

just an opinion here

My TIG isn't really there yet....but I'm working on it :D

Do have some distortion from all the welding heat. Does anyone know if they make/sell plastic leveling wedges, or should I just use 5200 or similar to level the mounts to the hard top?

Now to figure out how to rig the things :D
