I'm designing and deciding all I want done to my new boat. Since I do not want it painted, nor do I desire the boat to be shiny blinding bright, a builder recommended that he could clean it with Alumiprep 33 (phos acid wash) to clean it and make it dull.
Any comments or suggestions before I add this step to my wish list?

Cheaper way is use a truck body wash like zep a lyme. Then coat with shark hide

They wash there boats with some sort of acid wash and then coat with Nylac. I believe that Nylac needs to be sprayed

Not a big fan of Nyalic, it is not petrol-chemical resistant. It is widely used here, but you often see a brown stain below the fuel filler and vent from spilt fuel and fumes. CRC or WD40 will also dissolve it, and believe it or not, so will sunscreen.

YA GOT THAT STRAIGHT, BROTHER!
Had my boat maybe 3 days and had a fuel spill on the brand new deck paint, in which was covered in Nyalic.
HOLY ^%$##, $$#^&%, $#@#%$, ^&*(?), (*^&%$$%^&*(/)?, was I blazzzzzzing MAD!
Made a giant brown stain that was there till the day I repainted over it. It maybe good for the sides of the boat, but not for anything else.
