There is fours guys on board, both pulling from both ends and standing at the rail?????
Don't they think of standing at the other side and go around a cleat and t-top. Leave one guys at the rail to roll it in??

Maybe because I only pull 4' traps up and not AT sized tuna.

Just wack a dirty big chain to the styro foam cup and shackle the big hunk of fish meat up to the chain then add a whopping big hook and tow it home, never know might catch something even bigger!

Being a NON ALLOY has nothing to do with the attitude of the boat, a Pacific 23 would do the same thing if put in the same situation. :deadhorse:

I think Jetty was also deriding the tendency of deep v's to tip too easily in situations like this. Tradeoffs . . .

Hi All !

Big Tuny over the side ? Naaaa no more , got me a big transom door for dat !

I thought I exsplained to everyone how to wash a tuny up over the transome...... :sarge:

I was sippin beers with a commercial buddy the other day and hey told me about a no no that he did this season out on the

canyon. Hooked a 13 to 14 foot Hammer and stuck it wrong. Fish went ape and they cleated the damn thing to the stearn.

Said he about swollowed his heart when the big Hammer nearly pulled the transom under. Said he had no idea they were

that strong.

Again .......what the hell ......use the damn bow cleats !

We all learn sooner or later......

FWIW

That tuna was taken off of Cape Cod, MA this year by one of the best tuna charter captains in our harbor/area, Capt.Nat Moody. The fish weighed 712 lbs and was taken on a stand up 50W by one of his sports (one of 3 tuna they took that day) after a 90 minute battle. Nat is one of the nicest, most competent and experienced guys I have ever met and he always goes out of his way to do everything to get his customers on fish (he ran over 50 NM to get to the area they caught that fish in).

My boat's slip is next to Nat and I can tell you he has always complimented me on how great he thinks Alloy boats are and has been a great help to me getting my business established in Gloucester.. If I didnt own my own boat/business, he would be the guy I would charter as he knows what he is doing and is not just taking sports on boat rides.

Hey 21 CC

How ya been......

My thought with bow placement is you have a greater about of boyancy placed over a much larger area. It would take

alot more to pull a bow down to swamp hight than the stearn.

I would say the gent know his stuff since he did not dip the freeboard.

Just scary to see in a photo.

I doubt Occams Razor will ever get used as a Tuna hauler anyhow. With all the regs and ****. I am not going to equip with

2 E Pirbs, 1 Life raft and 2 survival suits at a cost of $4300.00 to snap up a tuna. I will charter.......

If I wanted to cash in on the tuna fishing I guess it would be a different story .

Wow, I thought that boat looked familiar, I have chartered First Light's Silver Hawk several times, nice boat, a little under powered but gets the job done, if I recall correctly it has about 11,000 hours on it and that is the 3rd set of engines on it, Suzuki 140s. Great boat not a stress crack anywhere on it and it has seen some serious action, especially before it was used for charters.

And Jetty, most of stuff you catch in FL would not qualify as bait for what they pull in on that "styro foam cup" up here. :rotfl:

Hi All !

I would venture to say somebody knew what they were doing ! Taking a cow like that on a 50W is no small feat !

Best done on a center as it was but highly questionable outcome on a big battle wagon. Job well done !

I admire people using smaller gear to take the huge cows. Years ago you would never try that with a 50 size reel

now it is getting common place.

Some great photo !

Yeah that's awesome but need a winch installed, save your back.......hmm
Maybe jay could work that in as an add-on. A winch install in the floor with a door and a metal roller. Then all you need to do is hook and pull. guess you would need a water proof door normally. Could even wire controls on the console.
