Man I had to go to the Dealer today and that not usually a good thing
I started my Cummins this AM to warm up a few min. before I take off . When I hit the key it sounded like it fired on 3 or 4 cylinders for about 3 seconds then idled normal and went into high idle mode while I was back in the house.
After about 8 to 10 min. I go back out and see a ENGINE LIGHT .............Check fuel cap , Oil is good , Coolant is good, volt meter is good and everything else is normal , Oh well ........Drive to work.
At work I pull my Smarty Jr. out and do systems check and BINGO , the truck threw ONE CODE [P0118 Temp sensor High Voltage] OK, temp sending unit is bad .
I call the dealer and they say " Bring it in at 2PM"
I tell them what I did and they do the same [While I watch] Then the tech, TURBO, Yes TURBO, pops the hood and in a few seconds tells us what all a DAMN MOUSE can do to the wiring harness .
The little bugger ate the LOOM and WIRES off right to the plug
Turbo found another plug with a pig tail , he soldered it in and did the shrink wrap thing . Now all is better and I'm only $64.64 lighter .
I need to get some outside CATS .

Re: Mice and wires
They also like to nest in the fan box for the heater along with storing dog food there. Sounds like you have a honest dealer with a good mechanic. Priceless

I'd pass on the cats, and build yourself a new heated/cooled metal building.

Re: Mice and wires
I deal with that all the time at work. I work on alot of old peoples cars that don't go anywhere very often. Try going to someplace like Tractor Supply and look for some sort of mouse repellent and place it around the engine bay. It may or may not work. I have seen cars catch on fire from the little bastards. I would try anything you can, replacing an engine harness is not cheap.
My two cents.
Nate.

Need to get a cat from a cattleman. A mouser from a litter off one of his "Barn cats" that is about half grown. (So it will have already been taught how to hunt by moma )
