I have a new (to me) boat!

Post by S L Dave »

As several of you know, I have been a very big fan of Pacific/BlackLab boats for quite some time.

You know...I was just starting to write a long story of my quest to get a new boat to replace my old NON ALLOY friend of the last 20 years...BUT who really cares, right? You want to see my new boat? Here she is! A 2003 Pacific 2325 HT with no bracket.

Thanks to you Les and Capt Dave, Kenny, Jay and many others on this forum for always answering my questions...as dumb as they may have sounded!
My neighbor drove up and asked me if my boat was stainless steel!!! I was beaming with pride. here's a couple more

Dave,

Skipper Dave! Congrats on fast action. "the grass is greener on the other side huh? You just need to be in a Pacific boat to see it!"

I'm so glad for ya. Okay, now for the line of questioning:

Why no engine platform? You mentioned, " the last owner was a sharker"? Is that the reason for the different transom??

Are you ready for a different experience? the feel of confidence, and stability? Fuel economy?

LOOK ALLOYTOY! HE'S ALREADY GOT A TRAILER LADDER!

Very unique. Man, I love seeing all the different things they can do with these boats. SWEET!

Hey Dave,
I spoke with Julie at Pacific and she said that they did make some 23's without the bracket...but because you lose some deck space in the process, not very popular. I have all the original correspondence from the factory and first owner...he had this boat built exactly the way he wanted it.
I got an amazing deal on this boat as it was a distress sale and to me the deck space feels just right!!! There are several things that the owner did on this boat that are NOT right...I will get that stuff fixed soon enough.

Other news:

SL Dave, she's looking good!
That's not the one that someone was selling for 20K was it?
I think that it was a 2000 and had an older Yamaha on it than what you have there.

Hope to see you out on the water sometime!

SL Dave,

Are those the Perko thread in style access ports in the floor? I noticed one looks like the clear type/see through?

Very nice looking boat!!

Alloy, there are 7 hatches that access below deck on this boat. The first owner had this made that way with NO foam below. He has all kinds of plumbing for the two bait tanks and washdown beneath the deck...some of which is very very poorly concieved. However, it is very cool to see all the amazing construction between the hull and deck.

I will start another thread in a week or so to ask advice on all the issues with the plumbing...and to decide if I want to send the boat up to the factory to seal the deck and put foam in. I am not sure yet. But I will get some pictures and familiarize myself with all the issues soon.

Richard,
Good meeting you too...Let's fish!! Maybe Sunday? I also may try to get a day off this week...I'll see.

Yes, they would do that, but I am not sure if I am going to do it yet.

There is much to get aquainted with on this boat, and I am going to bring it down for a motor service in a couple of weeks and get Kenny's take on the idea also.

Yep SLD, My take is fish it this summer mods (unless safty concerns) can wait for winter when it is SLOW and the rockfish season closed. Kenny knows Pacificskiff he is a stand up guy.

Hey he better have not moved you ahead of my service schedule. :D

SL Dave,

How many hours on the motor?

Can you get a better pic of your backrest when you have time? Also let me know your thoughts on comfort.

Thx.
