New Stanley 17

Hello,

I recently purchased a 17 foot Stanley for use in the Great Lakes. It may see salt water duty (S. Florida) for 2 weeks a year. I've searched your site and it seems to suggest bottom paint, and navalloy sacrificial anodes to prevent any corrosion. I will probably have Line X on the diamond plate and flat aluminum surfaces in the boat. I have read to put nylon washers between any 303 stainless that may attach an accessory (such as a rod holder). Any other advice? I'll be leaving it in a slip, sounds like I need to minimize electrical current around the boat. I would like the boat to last 20+ years.

Thanks for any advice,
Randy

Do you need to bottom paint in the Great Lakes? I have used my Pacific in a lake in Maine and did not bottom paint it just pressure washed it at the end of the season, just had a thin coat of slime that came right off. If you can avoid it I would not bottom paint it. When you attach stuff like rod holders also use Tuff Gel on the fasteners, it really helps to prevent corrosion.
