Wanting to build a boat....But..

#1

Post by LORDDiESEL »

I'm having trouble finding the style of boat i want to build. I want to build a boat offered by edge marine. It's the velocity LS ( http://www.edgemarine.com/VelocityLS.htm )

I've been in contact with edge asking to buy a fully finished welded hull for full retail. They said no. I asked if they would sell me a kit to build my own. They said no. I asked if they would sell me a one time use of their cutting files. You can guess what they said. I guess they're making so much money, they don't need mine.

So i'm still looking to build the same style of boat. Does anyone know how I could go about finding a kit or cutting files for a boat like this, or something close to these lines?

Thanks guys.

Also, if i have posted in the wrong forum, feel free to move it.

If I was a builder of production boats I would say no to your proposals as well. A manufacturer doesn't want the liability that would come with being a party to a boat build that they didn't control from start to finish or to have their name associated with a poorly completed kit product. Not sayin' you wouldn't do a fine job but they don't know that.

Save yourself the pain, busted knuckles, and welding burns.

Ya hang around here long enough you'll find people who have brand new boats built and then sell them a few months later.... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Heck when I grow up I'm gonna buy CHAPS boat from him and go back into being a offshore party boat charter. Only if the bottom is clean and slick.

Understood. I could see that with a kit, but not a fully finished hull. There are a lot of companies that sell hulls for repowers / finishing.

That's the best part! I'm a fab junkie. I put a cummins in everything. It's time for a cummins jet boat project. These toy gas engines just don't cut it for me.

Really, a 6bt in something like the Velocity? Sounds beastly!
