Oh come on folks!
Man is it just me or is the site slow lately?
Let's see some projects whether it's just a rod holder or a major overhaul. We don't care. Let's see some improvements to your vessels.
Cheers,
John

your the excitement for the site now. I am crippled up still. Aluminum Dreamer has fallen down as well. So spend some more of that Canadian Money that you get for free for living on a real PNW Island and build something. A bow stop? Guide on's? Air Ride Suspension Seats? Radar Arch/Rod Holder?

Not me John Mods are done in the winter time. It is now fishing season. I have my spot reserved both my camper and Boat for a month starting May 9th in LaPush Wa.
Now My package just came in from B.O.E. today. It consisted of the EP Fuel Tank level device, the New Lowrance Speakers and the Lowrance Satellite Weather Antenna. I need to get it installed now and activate then collect my $99 rebate from Sirrus.

I hear you on the fishing buddy. I'm hoping to get out by the end of the month. I said screw the bottom paint.
Is that fuel level sensor like a sending unit?. Let us know how it works out. I'd like to see that one for sure.

Re: Oh come on folks!
We're working on it John.
Oh by the way anybody get the "radar overlay invalid" yet? I didn't read the fine print. To get the coveted radar overlay on the chart. You need a heading sensor. That clicks off another $500. The new anodes are navalloy. This is a test. More to come."It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the waterline.

Yeah man! 3f8 to the rescue .
Great looking radar. Looks good on her .
Yeah you need a fluxgate compass for overlay. Have you looked into them yet? My gal came with one but I haven't gotten that far yet.
Can't wait to see more

Re: Oh come on folks!
John, I went with a Simrad RC42. It will easily integrate into my existing N2K network. Where is your unit location. Alloy is non-magnetic, but is there any effect I'm not concerting being an alloy boat?

Re: Oh come on folks!
Mine came with my TR-1 Gladiator auto pilot and supposedly it will work as it has data connections on it. It is mounted just under the dash below my center front cabin window. The previous owner said the auto pilot worked good but I have never used it. I'm in the process of hooking it back up. I may not do the overlay as I have side by side 7" head units at the helm and I can have my chartplotter running on one and the radar running on the other.3f8 wrote:John, I went with a Simrad RC42. I believe goatram has the Simrad unit and propably has the overlay feature hooked up already. Hopefully he chimes in.
Cheers,
John

Re: Oh come on folks!
Mine is located on the fuel tank under the Aluminum floor. I currently have to reattach it to the tank by double back tape. Pulled it yesterday to find fuel sending unit. I was routing my Lowrance EP-65 Sending unit cable. The RC-42 compass is about 2' from my steel seat frames. That is the best location that I can find and it seems to be working well. I use it with the AP and also the overlay. The higher you go with it the more the rocking of the boat will affect it was my take on my location.
So I will be updating as the Sun is trying to make an appearance today. I installed the new Speakers in the back of the boat, The EP-65 tank monitor and the Sirrus weather module. I have to activate it. $360 for the years subscription for the basic plan. I will continue to use my shop XM radio for my music on the water.

Re: Oh come on folks!
Thanks for the location examples guys. I expect to mount on the back side of the pic location. This is close to the water line about 8in. of center and near my turn point. No steel or wires close by.

Not only are the cannucks able to get outside and do stuff, so are the new englanders and pacwesters. While at the same time in the lower hemisphere it's winter time.
Now ya know how I feel when I'm out killing them in the winter time, and ya'll are shoveling snow and building boat sheds.
(in shorts and flip flops of course)
Ain't winter time to do all that stuff?

You are gonna love it in the dark and in the fog. The 3G is straight out of the box Plug and Play. The Fluxgate compass is a nice addition. Now ya need AP for those Long Trips and for trolling

Re: Oh come on folks!
Come on John you can do it. The welders and knowledge are yours to use.
I will post shortly of a new mod when I am finished. After fishing out of LaPush WA. Kinda felt the need to improve some more on the Tin Lizzy. All in the down time before the ocean season restarts in Westport.
