Post by IN2DEEP »

For you right coast guys
Something to know about if you haven't tried it yet.
A few of us use a similar set-up/technique on the left coast for our California halibut
... but don't tell anyone
Hope it helps put more fish on board :skipper:

Great videos thanks for that link  We use a similar set up but tend to fish deeper water (45'-70') so we use 4 oz. bucktails. Just started the Gulp thing a couple weeks ago and they work :!: :!: :!:

Two interesting points in the videos.......he tied his drift sock to his downrigger mount :?: :?: :?: And if he would bleed those fish out they would taste much much better

Alloy,
Do you buy ready made bucktails or do you tie your own?
If you want to tie your own, I pour the minnow leadheads from 1/2oz to 4ozs using various type and sizes of hooks.
Something to do with your free time.

I wish that he wouldn't grab those undersized fish with a dry rag. I think that removing the slime is harmful to fish
...but he sure is catching them

Let me know if you're interested in some of those heads.

I usually buy the spro jigs. I like the mylar and the way they hold up. I will certainly keep that in mind for the winter projects  I'd love to tie my own......

Yeah, not sure why he uses a rag.....

Ahhhhhh!

Gulp this !

Go with Full rigged squid and a sand eel teaser if you want a monster !

Ask any Fluke sharpy and they all say the same thing (you want big fluke you use big bait ! )

Fluke are aggressive sight feeders and will inhale huge baits with no problem at all while they watch these small

fluke spinner rigs hover by. Had one inhale a 12" eel intended for a bass one day ! Thought is was a damn Bluefish cutting

the eel in half ......nope.... Tug Tug tug Hmmmmm 27" fluke. I would of been happier if it was a 30 something ruining

my snake bait but that fishin !

So In2Deep you ready to give me and SL Dave some local Halibut Lessons. Bounce Balling and Bomber Jig

Dang my jar of Gulp alive broke And it really smelled up the place. The stuff really works on other critters.

Maybe flop some lips on some Cajun Shrimp Gumbo while were out there?????????

Thanks
