Jettywolf: Yeah, that's me with the Stabi-craft. I have a soft spot for those "bouyancy boats"

Catching a fish like that on a boat like that is some mean feat. Hat's off to that fisherman.

G'day Pete:

Your friend looks a bit played out himself. What a mighty
accomplishment!

Jettywolf:

Here are a couple of ocean cylinder links I found on the web:

G'day Pete:

That 14' boat with a 50HP outboard must really haul.

Are these boats very common out there?

What is your opinion of these boats? I read where they are bouyancy boats -- where they get their bouyancy from sponsons on the outside of the hull -- like Stabi-craft and ACBs. Yamba Engineering and Queensland Shipyard seem to produce these in Australia. Haven't seen this brand in the US. Just curi...

Jettywolf: I decided in the end to take it to SeaArk for refurbishing. They will repair the dents and gouges and repaint the hull. I got a couple of quotes for the work that was somewhat less expensive. I like the idea that a company will take its old boats back for rework. I dropped the boat off to...

That boat does have really nice lines. She is a beauty... I think I remember this boat when it was being brokered by Winninghoff. If it is the same boat it had just seen a new coat of paint. Nuke: You wouldn't happen know the name of the shop that painted the boat? I may use them to paint the Seaark...

AlloyToy: Yes, I think I have to cut out a piece and weld in a patch. (unless the dent can be pulled out, but I doubt that) Nuke: Nah, I have a special Quabbin boat. 25HP is allowed if it is a 4S, 20HP otherwise. This boat is bound for the Newburyport or Point Judith. Kinda equadistant when your inl...

aluminum welding referral in NE?

I just purchased a used Seaark. Nice boat, I think, but the previous owner hit some rocks from the looks of it. There's a dent the size of a small pizza in the port quarter of the bow. Now I need the name of a good welder in the Northeast. Any recommendations? Next a referral for a decent paint shop...

BrianW: I didn't know the fenders were out. Also the motor isn't trimmed right. It is the only picture I have right now. Not really professional-grade.

Jettywolf: Yeah it can a bit loud. Waves slapping it sound okay. When pushing through chop i has a hollow drum sound though.

It's my go-anywhere boat. It's at home in freshwater or salt. It will go up shallow rivers. And I fish the RI coast. The ride is fine except it gets pretty bumpy with chop over 2'. But it's safe. It has a welded deck with scuppers and 7 sealed aluminum air chambers.

Jettywolf: The Stabicraft is like an ACB -- maybe a smaller version. I think the folks at ACB used to license Stabi's technology and build the Stabi's here in the US. I'm guessing the company that became ACB built my boat. This company improved on Stabi's design, patented the technology and then sta...

Man, what a great idea for a new website! I just signed up as a member. I'm heavy into metal boats. I own two. Can't explain why exactly. Maintainability and durability are definitely two factors. I think I just like aluminum. Is it wrong? I really enjoyed the pictures already posted to this website...
