Oregon Hali opener

Well, since I still have her I put her back in the slip for the summer and managed to get out for the Newport opener to gather a little white meat. Felt pretty good to be back on the water.

Re: Latest Creation

Jetty, its welded on over hull plate for looks and to protect from anchor slaps and parking with nose in the brush. Some times we run nose up in the brush on the river and motor anchor while back bouncing or drift fishing, besides it looks cool. The trailer looks tough also and will work well on thi...

Decided against the Bruce Roberts plans , so now working with Cope on redesign of the 36' patrol boat with twin OB's. Sitke Buyer fell through so looks like I'll be fishing instead of building this summer.

A guy from Anchorage called friday about boat, but he needs it to be more of a camper then a charter so I'm taking off the ...

Re: Latest Creation

No, He's a comercial crab fisherman, but while home he spends almost everyday on the Cowlitz river two miles from his home, this boat is only 19' long with forward tank and 78" bottom. should be a great back bouncer and side drifter which is primarily what he does.

Re: Reel SongII 30-1/2 foot pilot house

Only problem with utectic plates is the amount of fish that can be loaded into the hold at one time can overwhelm what an utectic plate can cool. but I'm still researching.

Re: Been Gone a while

Would love to as soon as I know more, I have a freind who modified his bowpicker holds to include RSW this season, but he did it with two small 12000 btu/hr units that a local guy built and they seemed abit light for what I want to do. They are pretty simple by design but require enough generator to...

Re: Been Gone a while

Mike, I like the cats but I think for resale here as a comercial tuna boat I'm thinking mono hull with big fish holds and RSW or even freezer holds, not set on design yet, and as said this one has to go first or I'll keep fishing it. Thanks for the input though ,always looking for ideas and plans. I...

Refrigerated sea water in the holds, eliminate the 1200 lb's of ice I currently haul, just as heavy coming in but empty going out.

Re: Reel SongII 30-1/2 foot pilot house

Re: Unpainted alloys...black hands?

I dont know, I painted both my builds cause I thought it looked good. And my diamond plate floors in my last willie were still turning my extra tuffs black after 8 years. I like them either way . Oh and I didnt need to grind or hide anything. Definitley one less thing to worry about without paint.
