I've never seen it done, but it would seem logical, especially where the anchor/chain is continually on view on a pulpit where rust is ugly. My experience with vinyl-coated steel chain has been disappointing... I use stainless steel anchor chains and shackles on my boats........... No rust problems...

Well, actually passed through security with no problems. (I usually get the "Special treatment" when I fly. (Purely random they say) First time I haven't been put through the wringer since 911.

I had a pretty good one going. But had to shave when I went back to work. Required to be able to put on a SCBA at any time at the plant. At the Sheriffs office, the Sheriff takes a dim view of us having a beard as well.........

Mother nature can throw some tough stuff at us at times. I live near two rivers that when we get those heavy sustained rains here and in the Mississippi part of their watershed. Neither my place or my parents place has ever flooded. But have spent many a hour helping relatives, friends and sometimes...
