Quit yer bitchin'...................... in 2011 Lester had me out on the lawn tractor in 112 degrees. It was so hot & so dry that my shirt was not even damp. Any sweat just vapourised instantly. :sarge: :sarge: And there was not a beer in the house because we had drunk em the night before. :beer...

Re: biggest boat for a single 200
Hi Papa, Drumbeat (in my sig pic) is around 23' & runs a 175 Zuke. Flat out with 75 gallons of gas & 2 guys plus coolers, rods, etc is around 35-37 knots. But to do that speed I need a really flat track. DB has 23 deg deadrise aft & a fine entry so with tabs down I can punch into mostly ...

Hi Don, If yer not "on duty" when we slide through, Don's Seafood Hut looks like a good place fer us to buy you a feed. But you are gonna need to arrange the forklift to get us out. BTW, that little swamp ride you arranged was the coolest thing we have ever done in the US. :thum...

EPIRB, Signal Mirror, Hi Vis Orange Distress Sheet are all needed (compulsory) down this way. Earlier in the week a shrimper rolled when nets "hooked up" on some reef (?). One guy did not get
off but one did & activated the EPIRB. That is the only reason he is alive.

Re: 27 FOOT FIT OUT WITH PICS
So, how long did it take. Jeff & I installed everything between us, carpet, paint, wrap & engine excepted. I know I did 300 hours & Jeff would certainly have done more as he sanded the boat down & acid washed it, applied the SharkHide, fitted all the pumps & plumbing, hit the 3/4...

Re: VIBRATION / DAMPENING / EAR PLUGS??
So this vibration/noise is new. Something is wrong somewhere. As Lester said, check everything, including engine cowls.Try running on one engine at a time. Do you have underdeck storage where a metal object is now free to rub against a frame or a stringer? Wheelhouse door tight? The list is endless....

Hi John, I have about 1200 yards of Jerry Brown Hollowcore on the 114. It is right up to the spool shoulders ATM but I will let it go in some really deep water & it will hopefully tighten down nicely pulling up 10 pounds of rebar.  We plan to chase Blue Eyed Trevalla & B...

Fitting a DEEP Drop Reel
Hi all, I have been a bit slow with my posting but stuff happens. It is written on the front of Forrest Gump's T-shirt. So last year when we were inthe US I got a great deal on an Electra-Mate 620 XP coupled with a Penn 114 half filled with 80lb braid on a Star rod for way too little cash. So I put ...

Re: Boats for Following Seas
We get our share of nasty following seas down this way as the prevailing wind is SE & we run a westerly course to get back home from 35 miles out on occasion. As Kevin implied, every boat is different & the sea is never constant. Soooooooooooooooo........................ IMHO the answer lies...

Down this way, we tend to use checker plate on the decks. Some people, like me, prefer to cover the plate with marine carpet as we fish bare footed a lot of the year. I'm guessing that you guys wear boots as that Pac NW water gets a bit cold. I always wash the blood guts off the carpet with salt wat...

Re: Ready for an Aluminum PilotHouse Boat around 26-30 feet
I would be putting a pair of small (12" x 12") Bomar style hatches in the wheel house roof if you have fixed glass windows forward. I have clears that I can roll down but just about everybody that I know who has fixed windows has installed vents above the forward seating.

Re: Splashwell or Extended Transom
Hi Scott, The pics below show how a full width/depth hull extension was fitted to an earlier alloy CC that I owned to enable a heavier 4 stroke engine to be fitted. The original splash well in the transom is still visible & was retained to allow the new engine to be fully raised. http://i100.pho...
