Re: Outrigger Rigging

I had used the taco premium kits line last year but I am replacing this year with JB braid. However, as I said, a lot of guys swear by mono. I did see that the Momoi outrigger line was around $15 for a setup. As far as lines tangling during transport I simply collapse my poles and wrap the lines aro...

Re: Cod Question

Here's another cod question. My brother-in-law and I took our sons to Alaska last summer for some Halibut fishing. We also caught a fair number of cod. The captain kept a few for bait but wouldn't eat them because they had worms in their flesh. Is this true of all cod and if so what do you do to ge...

Re: Outrigger Rigging

A lot of guys use mono and swear by it. Momoi sells "Outrigger Line" which looks like 400lb mono to me (of course they charge more for it because of the name  I use Halllocks and could not fish without them. I also use Knockout clips which I clean, lubricate and properly tension befo...

Re: US Tuna Quota Reduction

I hope to if I can get someone to cover my last two classes. I think it is important that this hearing has a very large turnout of concerned fisherman. The NMFS has to be shown that we are not going to stand aside while they give our rights to fish for tuna to another foreign country. I dont plan on...

Re: US Tuna Quota Reduction

If we do not catch our quota in 2009,2010 the US could see a 50% reduction in allowance which will effect both commercial and recreational fisherman. While we are working under regulations that hinder us from meeting the quota the rest of the ICCAT countries are meeting their quotas by not having to...

US Tuna Quota Reduction

The ICCAT is requesting that the United States give up a percentage of its tuna quota to other member countries because we have not met the quota in past seasons. Of course one of the reasons we have not met the quota is the restrictions the NMFS has placed on our fisherman which are greater than an...

Re: wheels vs bunks for trailers

Use "Liquid Rollers" on your bunks and she will slide off and on like a greased pig. Be sure to keep the bow eyed hooked when backing down the ramp until you are ready to launch. Personally I wouldn't own anything but a bunk trailer.

No cod may be landed on any boat fishing north of the 42 line in federal waters. If boarded and cod are found you will be...
