How do I fix these cracks?

How do I fix this? The hard top moves laterally too much and has caused these cracks. Just welding it will not fix it since the movement will not stop. I'm not so sure reinforcing the area will work and I'm afraid the stress will just be transferred someplace else. What do I do? Taking the boat to t...

You can "hide" most of the game stuff without hiding a person. Just hover over the post and you'll see a "hide" button. I hide all of the game, food, and farm animal stuff. I do have to laugh at some who think they have to post every thought that comes to them. I just shake my he...

Hey Guy's....Been pretty boring at my house, I Have not been fishing or had the boat wet and several weeks. :hammer: Here is a photo of what the bottom looks like now... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd116/BoatBucks/HC%202009/IMG_8712.jpg If the weather holds I hope to be on the water tomorrow ...

Re: Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

I can't take credit for the welding. They don't let me do that. The gouges were ground out, filled with weld, and ground smooth. All done on the trailer while laying on his back. Easy and comfortable it was not and I think I was cussed at a few time by the welder. Probably a good thing I don't under...

Re: Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

Spent Saturday at the shop. Got the gouge filled in but ended up having to pull the pump as the seal around the intake was broken and the corners of the intake still leaked. Should be done today or tomorrow and I'll be good to go. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd116/BoatBucks/HC%202009/IMG_8584...

Re: Here we go again...!!!!

To my surprise prices have dropped around here. Down to 2.79. Was 2.89 just a couple of weeks ago. Diesel is at 2.71. I see the price ppb is over $80 now. Just 6 or 8 weeks ago I think it was under $70. I don't like any more than the next guy but it is what it is and unless I'm willing to completely...

Re: Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

I"m also curious how you go about fixing the hull damage. Is a welder able to apply a penetrating bead upside down or does the hull need to be flipped? If you get the chance, some pictures of the repair in progress would be great! Scott Will do! Hope to get her to the shop in the next week or ...

Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

Spent last week in Hells Canyon on the Oregon/Idaho border. On our way to the cabin, I was trying to give a guy who was waking a bunch of boats on the beach some room. Guess I gave him too much room and managed to hit a rock while on step and loaded down with about 2500lbs of extra stuff. Rock was j...

Re: Almar Sounder by North River

Almar was a good boat when it was Almar and was built in Tacoma. In 2008, production was moved to Roseburg if I remember correctly. I don't think NR is really in business anymore given the recent "problems". I know the articles say they are still building boats but I'm not sure that is tru...

Re: Tacoma Finally!

We float or "bobber" fish for salmon a lot up here in the tide water in the fall. One of the funnest ways to catch a big 30 or 40 pound chinook. The fish will hang around structure and you just toss the gob of eggs near it a let it float by. Too bad we don't have many chinook araound here ...

Unleaded is at $2.79/gal. Diesel is at $2.69. Off road diesel is around $2.00 so boating/fishing will be much more affordable this year.

Re: Yanmar 370hp Block Heater?

I don't know anything about that particular Yanmar but the 6LP (315hp) does not have a block heater either. What it does have is a fuel heater which is similar. It warms the fuel until the engine gets to temp. Start it up and go. If you have volt gage in the dash you'll see the draw on the system. I...

Re: AL vs Rock

The boat seemed to run fine but I have not fished it yet. Many of my friends have pounded out many a dent but I'll definitely get a few more hours on it before I commit. Since the rivers are a bit out of shape I took the time to wash her up inside and out. Look like new....well almost. Also took a f...

Re: AL vs Rock

Most of the production boats run 3/16. We use 1/4 and there is the option for 3/8 for the last 10'. We also use 7 stringers that are extruded 6061 along with 5086 bulkheads. It's pretty though. I need to fish the boat a bit to see if dent does affect the boat on anchor or troll. I'll probably pound ...

The tree is called the "dinosaur tree" and is a famous landmark.

I didn't spill my beer but I did need one afterwords. Was a bit of a hairy situation for a couple of seconds but all turned out well.

Better to be lucky than good sometimes.

Eventually it will happen when your boating takes you places that has lots of rocks like the Rogue River on the south Oregon coast. Not a big dent any means but one reason why AL in the material of choice. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd116/BoatBucks/Rogue_2009/2mlie_dent.jpg http://i220.photo...

Re: Seattle Boat Show Pictures?

Wow those are some nice boats. We never get anything like the Moose, coldwater or coastalcraft in Portland. I did not see anything like that at the Sacramento ISE show either. I guess I need to go to the Seattle show at least once if I get the chance. The Portland Sportsman Show starts Wednesday. Oh...

I added more pics the first post. I didn't get too detailed as I didn't have a bunch of time. Hope these will suffice. Attendance was down and there were not as many boats as in years past. Our boats actually showed really well and we got a few sales out of it. Can't say everyone did that well so we...

Too bad we can't get some of those toyota or nissan diesel suv's. I'm guessing those don't or wont meet epa emissions.

I have a 2000 F-350 diesel. Nothing fancy but paid for.

Re: Portland, OR Show

We only build 12 or 13 boats a year so we are low production as well. There is so much competition in jetboats we feel in order to get our product seen and show off what we can do vs a production boat, we have to be at the shows. I can see the plate boats going to Seattle for sure but still think th...

Re: Portland, OR Show

Hi Bob, no but I will. I'm going to try and walk around a little before opening on Saturday and get more pics. This year there are no plate alloy boats at the show. Maxweld, through a dealer, was at the shows last year but I think the dealer is in trouble and may not be around anymore. I wish ...
