Re: Which motor?
He said if it has any problems I can bring it back. So I bought it already. I need to have the bearings checked out on the prop shaft, but the price reflected it. There is about a 1/16" play front to back, nothing side to side. Is that something that can be adjusted, or is it time for new beari...

Re: Which motor?
So I almost ended up picking up that used 2010 40hp Mercury. It is from a lake and never been in the salt. It has some scratches on the hood, but look to be cosmetic only. He said it was tied up next to a piling in the lake. I hope I don't regret not getting another 10hp, but a new motor was stretch...

Re: Which motor?
I would probably have to open the motor well up a little for that 225hp. Would be fun though. I would like a new motor, and I already have rigging for a Suzuki mounted. But I would like a new honda. But I would like to save $2k by going used. Merc service is 30min away. Honda and Suzuki are 90min aw...

Made a decision on a motor
So I am planning on getting a motor soon and cannot figure out which direction to go. Itis going to be a second boat for lakes and near shore use. I don't plan on rivers but it will be beached. The options are a used 60/40jet, a new 50hp prop, or a used 40hp prop. I talked to someone with the same h...

Re: ALASKAN NIKE'S....
That's too bad that they moved to china. I sure hope that our govt is going to wake up and come up with a solution to help stop this.
I also have a pair of caulked extratufs that are over 10yrs old and still in excellent condition if that says anything about the "good old days"

Re: ALASKAN NIKE'S....
I have heard that the made in china are lasting longer then the recent made in USA ones. I have blown out my last pair of made in the USA in under 6mo. I have exactaly 2 long line trips (2days ea.), 15 days of salmon trolling, and one trip of crab (3days). So that is only 22days of use. I am not the...

Re: Fuel Problems. HELP ! ! !
The shop wear I bought my filters said that it could possible be that my tank was made out of the wrong grade of aluminum and I should check on what he actually used. I couldn't see that actually being the problem. BUT He also said that I need to ground my tank to the negative pole on the battery to...

Re: Fuel Problems. HELP ! ! !
Been getting my fuel from the Mini Mart, not big salmon. I don't think that its from them as there hasn't been any reports on any of the other sites about bad gas. I was told to try the stay-bil as see if it works, but I am using a bunch of fuel and its not having much time to separate out. I don't ...

Fuel Problems. HELP ! ! !
So I am at my whits end here. I recently replaced my gas tank about 3 weeks ago with a custom aluminum tank. Since I have gotten it back I have put about 160hrs on the main motor (Suzuki225), and I have had to replace the Racor filter 5 times already (on its 6th filter.) I am pretty positive that th...

Lengthening a hull?
I have talked to a local aluminum boat builder about boxing in the bracket to add flotation. He said that it would help with economy and would help slow me down while maintaining plane. Another option he we takes about is lengthening the hull 4'. I would love some extra room in the stern and have be...

Thanks for the offer but I tried that angle out and am very impressed. Made it so I can plane down to about 16kts. I am going to hold off on the hydrofoil for now.
Thanks chaps.

Re: Hydrofoils?
I am debating on how to make the trim tabs work. I really wanted to box in my swim step for flotation, but in doing so I would all but eliminate any easy way to mount traditional tabs. I am in the middle of mounting a piece of angle to the trailing edge of the bottom plate like chaps has done to his...

Hydrofoils?
I need something to help keep my bow down and slow my minimum planing speed to a reasonable ocean speed. I currently start falling off plane below 20kts or so. I am doing the mod that CHAPS did with the aluminum angle to try and replicate the Volvo QL trim tabs. I am thinking about ordering a doel f...

Re: 26' walkaround wanted
I looked at a lot of alloy boats in the last 6 months, I have seen 29-32' boats with cabins going for 100-130k, listing prices have been $100 to $195. The high priced ones don't sell. When hopefully my deal closes, I will post some info... But if it was one the west coast it would sell pretty quick...

Re: 26' walkaround wanted
Ok help me understand. I thought these boats hold there value and are easy resale. What is wrong with this 29' boat that nobody wants it? Unfortunately I do alot of trailering and it seems this boat would be a difficult tow. Thanks for forwarding Dave! I would guess the 29' falls into a small niche...

There is one for sale locally. 28' http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/2932898790.html
What in the consensus on them? Its bigger and more expensive then the one I was looking at, but I am in the market now.
Mainly does anyone know the hull thickness? or any other info?
Thanks
Josh
