Re: Pipe bender
So this is my new bender! I built the stand and assembled it tonight. I drilled a hole in my basement floor to sink a 2" receiver into, then built a stand to fit it. The bender is a JD Squared. I haven't tested it out yet, but I will tomorrow. It is a manual ratchet type bender, but has the opt...

Re: Pulled the trigger
I picked up a crappy canoe last year, best $50. bucks I ever spent. I use it in the ponds, and even in the Nauset marsh (local estuary). Easy to pull up on sand bars, and the fuel economy is out of this world.

Re: Stuff I've been working on.
Yeah, I never would have thought I would be where I am a year ago. I have a boat that won't float, a welder that will fix it but will take a year to do it, and no money to do it. AWESOME! :deadhorse: But yeah, I am building stuff, and am super psyched to be doing so. I will make my boat float again,...

Re: Stuff I've been working on.
No kidding, unfortunately they sent the dies separately. So no nice smooth bends until next week. Don't worry, everyone will be sick of hearing about, and seeing new pictures of stuff I bend up. I think I am going to order a pipe/tube notcher tonight. It should help me a bit with the fit up of pipe....

If you are interested in anything, send me a PM. I am happy to build stuff to order, tell me what you want, I'll build it, send you a picture, you approve it, and I'll send it to you.

Re: Stuff I've been working on.
Yes, I am interested in different designs. The reason I built them straight up and down, is because I had a customer that wanted one that way. I think the "rocket launcher" type would be much cooler, and I plan to build some.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Stuff I've been working on.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I get $150 for them. I am thinking of building something a little more trick looking in the near future.
I sold the first one this morning. Hopefully I can sell more so I can get my cool boat back together.

Stuff I've been working on.
Trying to raise money for the "big repair". So I have been making anything I can, here are some rod holders I have made. I responded to someones "want to buy" on Craigslist, thats what got me started. I don't make a ton of money off of these things, but it's a start. The rod hold...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
Last night right before I fell asleep, this idea came to me. What if I made the repair panel for the bottom so it extended past the transom 2 1/2' or so, and built the outboard bracket off of that? Like Coldwater boats. Just an idea.

Looks like a great boat T-sole, keep up with the build photos. Can't wait to see the progress.
Thanks for sharing those cool photos of your build, and boat in action. Looks like it was a good boat.

I like that! If only I had a spare $100k lying around. Maybe next year.
Check this one out, not as cool, but more affordable.

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
Thanks Welder. One way of looking at it for me is all that I am learning from this, just like you said. When my buddy came over to look at the boat, he says to me " Dude it's just metal". Easy for him to say, but I know what he's saying. Hopefully I'll look back at this and laugh. :rotfl: ...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
I agree, I won't be happy unless it is "right". As right as I can make it. Fortunately my friend that came to look at what I've got going on won't touch anything his name will be attached to unless it is done well.
I will keep everyone posted on the progress, once it really starts.

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
Sorry, I didn't get to the photo shoot tonight. My welder friend came over to the house to inspect my hull. I told him what I had been discussing with Kevin, and he thought it was a good idea, if I was planning on keeping the boat. If not he thought I could get by with doing less if I just wanted to...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
I can get the bottom piece press braked by my buddy. What a great idea, I hadn't even thought of that. That will save on alot of welding. I like where this is going. I think it will all work out. Still early to think about this, but I should look at the big picture and plan ahead. You mentioned I'll ...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
I think I follow you. I had thought about bringing the V back, cause there is no longer the need for the flat bottom. The bottom material is only 3/16" and already bought half the material, if I were to do what you say I should do and cut out most of the bottom in engine well. Just to clarify, ...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
Well, today was phase one. I couldn't find any alumibrite, but I got some aluminum brightener (alloy wheel cleaner). I also got some muriatic acid, but was unsure if I should use it. Should I use it? The aluminum brightener worked fairly well with a scotch brite pad, I also used a ss brush. I remove...

Re: Getting rid of the engine box.
So here is a picture of my boat. Keep in mind, my boat is not high end. I don't have any history on it, and I haven't been able to find out anything on the builder. I am still learning about alloy boats, but from what I can tell, the builder was not very good. This is all I got until I can figure ou...
