Re: Edge Marine Sport OS

You can see my thoughts here if you haven't already. My Thread

I love the boat. The best riding boat I've ever had. Everything I wanted in a big water boat. My only regret is I don't have the time to use it like I planned and probably won't ever. Life happens.

Re: Edge Marine OS Boats

I looked at similar North Rivers before I bought this and really liked the specs of the Edge a lot better. At the time the price was better too. The Edge is a bigger boat with an 8' bottom and a 9.5' beam. The width may or may not be an issue for you. I assume you're in Cali? While I should have a p...

Re: Edge Marine OS Boats

Hi KDJ, Let me know if you have other questions my thread above doesn't answer. Love the boat. Best riding AL boat I've had or been in to date. Full disclosure - I "dabble" in the Aluminum boat industry and have for 10 years. I work the Portland shows and manage the website/social media si...

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

Kevin is spot on with his thoughts. Chaps' photo is a perfect look at a delta pad. You see that design in jetboats inboard or outboard. The Edge has a funny little Delta pad on the bracket that helps lift the aft of the boat up. I think it helps in efficiently without hurting the ride. http://outcas...

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

No Hi-jack at all! Post away! Congrats!

I'm still looking for some rough water. I was out yesterday in the Columbia but it was a pretty calm day again. Did manage to boat some nice sturgeon so at least I know the boat will fish!

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

Tippy? yes/no? Not at all. Super stable. Probably the most stable tin can tub I've been on that is trailerable. Even more so than the 24' jetboat I had with a 11deg delta bottom. I plan to use her throughout the winter sturgeon fishing and crabbing. The real test will be in the spring for halibut a...

Re: Some Edwing boats

The boat in post #9 is "Aces & Eights". Buddy of mine owns it and I've fished out of her several times. Good boats for sure. They are fuel efficient but don't ride too great when it gets a little sporty. Luckily he's got 4 air rides that help. We've been out when we probably should of ...

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

Builder says it should do 50ish....I didn't open her up. No rough water yet but some of the big wakes from bigger boats, tugs, and ships were barely a bump.

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

In these parts, 99% of the jetboats are built with shallow vee's for rivers. I've been running jets for close to 25 years of various sizes, the last being 24' diesel powered with a HJ212 running everything from a couple of inches of water (sometimes no water - oopsie! ), class 3 and 4 whitewater to ...

Re: Edge Marine Sport Offshore

Thanks guys. Napa Mike, they are currently working on a cabin style 26'. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Most of these Sport OS's that are sold are 22-24' which is a pretty good size for the PNW. Yes welder, the trailer is sweet and was a big deal for me when I was shopping. I've had...

Edge Marine Sport Offshore

After many years owning jetboats and running rivers, I decided to make a change. I sold my last boat a while back and was going to get another jet but the more I thought about it, the more going to an OB with a deeper vee made more sense for the majority of what and where I fish. I'm tired of taking...

Re: Highway products

I too have one of their truck boxes and love it. Pavati has been making quite a showing around these parts. Not much in the way of power boats but their drift boats are making waves so to speak. They're probably the top of line and the only drift boat that has doors which makes them easy to get in a...

Re: gas or diesel?

That's the problem is the new diesels are so dang expensive (to meet EPA regs) and I don't think it's a viable option for most of us unless you've got a pile of cash burning a hole in your pocket or you're a commie and can put enough hours on one.

Re: gas or diesel?

Retail right now for 87 is $3.19 - 3.25. Diesel is $3.80 to 3.85. In the good old days diesel was cheaper than gas. More recently it's at a premium price or more. Offroad is around $3.27...that was my price yesterday. I've been running a diesel boat for 5 years. Sometimes it's been cheaper than gas....

Re: Rock damage repair Kvichak

Just a comment on the repair. While that looks like it was repaired by someone who really didn't know what there were doing, it's probably fine. Hitting rocks is common in my neck of the woods. It's not unusual to cut out part of a hull and weld in a new section. However, I've never seen a repair li...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

I added another net holder since I could. I sometimes have a couple nets and a harpoon so this will be a nice addition. Haven't fished yet. I still need to make the trip to go get her. It's an 8 hour, 450 mile round trip to the shop that fixed it. I'm excited to get her back since I have not run her...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

Thought I'd update this thread.....took a while but she's finally fixed. The top support is now bolted on with backing plates instead of welded and they used larger 1.25" schd 40 pipe. I worked with a manufacturer (not the one who built the boat) who I felt had a good understanding of what the ...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

Thanks for the drawings Kevin. The arch idea is probably the right way to do it and is also the most expensive. My hard top is only 4' wide and the rear foot of the top is canvas. At this point I don't have the budget to do it right. The corner bracing looks pretty simple although I'll need to reloc...

I know Robin and I'm on ifish also but under a different moniker. Thanks for the offer but I can get it fixed close to home. I guess my solution must be ok since no one else has said otherwise. Probably need to drill a hole at the ends of the crack too. Now I need to stop fishing long enough to get ...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

I'm in Oregon, I updated my location. Sorry about that. It's a whitewater style boat. It's been used hard no doubt but I thought that's what it was made for. The boat is 5 years old. Live and learn. It's only money right? :rotfl: Taking it to the manufacturer is not an option and I won't go into why...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

Thanks for advice. These are the best ideas so far that are consistent. Gunwale is 1/8" 5086. Yes, there are supports under the gunwale to support the load of the top. The rear corners of the top is gusseted by speaker boxes. What about replacing the support as mentioned with a "ladder&quo...
