Re: 12v ‘marine’ coolers?
Hmmmm... hadn’t considered the solar power application to be honest, but a great idea. The cooler would only need to be on when the boat is running, so had just thought about it being a 12v application. I have since come across this: http://www.novakool.com/products/conversion_units.htm Made by the ...

Re: 12v ‘marine’ coolers?
I hear ya, but our situation may be a little unique. We live on a small island and our boat is moored on a buoy during boating season. So everything going to the boat goes out in our tender that we pull to the water’s edge and then row out to the boat. Packing a bag of ice along with everything else...

12v ‘marine’ coolers?
Hope this is the most appropriate forum to post this question in. I am hoping to integrate a 12v cooler into or under a seat in our new aluminum boat build. Has anyone any suggestions on a ‘better - best’ brand to consider? We will be on salt water and would want something that maybe is either stain...

Re: Outboard brand question for 115hp
Thanks again Fisherman. So it sounds like a 115 HO would have made negligible improvement correct? I keep wondering if the savings in weight from the 115 HO over the 135 HO is worth anything. Wish a guy could try both engines out under the same conditions, but that isn’t going to happen :-)

Re: Bare aluminum gunnels?
Personally, I would use a rigid non absorbing gasket type material between ‘different metals’ when you mount your ‘accessories’. I bought a roll (can’t remember what it is called) of material that is thin but very tough/durable poly. I cut my own gaskets to fit between any dissimilar metals when bui...

Jasper has his shop near Gibsons, on the Sunshine Coast of BC, Canada. Truly an amazing builder.

Moving from our - just sold - Ranger Tug diesel engine (30 hp) to a 115 or 135 hp outboard on our ‘being built’ aluminum boat. I am sure it is going to be eye opening in the amount of fuel/gasoline we use. However, we found that the Ranger didn’t allow us to do what we were hoping to do... like runn...

Re: Outboard brand question for 115hp
Thanks Fisherman. Can I ask what size your boat is and approximate weight? I keep wondering about jumping from the 115 4 cylinder up to the 135HO six cylinder and if the weight difference and likely somewhat increased fuel usage of the six is warranted. I know we all load, and use our boats differen...

Re: Outboard brand question for 115hp
While this is an older thread I would like to follow up on it further. If 'minnlud' is still around I would love to know what he ended up powering his 18' welded aluminum with. I am having an Orca - 2 center console (with 2' POD) built ( by www.jaspermarine.ca ) and have been told that 115-150 is th...

Would be nice if the 'skill testing question' for registering would change from time to time. Kept putting an 'e' in the dude's name and must have tried a dozen times to get registered....can only imagine how many people finally said the heck with it. Anyway, living on the West Coast of BC on a smal...
