The stuff seems pretty tough; just need to make sure to get AR2 (abrasion resistant both sides)

Re: Marine Glass????
DSG has some nice stuff and is pretty much the benchmark. However, they are definitely a premium price as well, especially for the doors. Hence thinking of getting a little creative. Rubber gasket windows are ok until you end up with a window in your lap. The Makrolon is what you'll see on many of t...

Re: Late Intro
Pjay9 - Not in the PNW for now, hopefully at some point I will get back there soon.
Goatram - I'll try to work on a thread for the build as I am able to get closer to completion. Really going to push to finish it up this winter.

Re: Marine Glass????
Maybe consider Makrolon AR2 by Sheffield Plastics, it is really tough stuff you'll see on tractor cabs and commercial boats. After getting my last quote back for windows and doors I am seriously considering using this stuff on my build.... Speaking of which, anyone ever built their own slider window...

Re: Welding Tricky Corners
Kevin, I have had a few hours with the straight gooseneck and it is a dream. I actually prefer it over the standard gooseneck. For me, the visibility is much better, especially when working below the knees. I've seen your tig gun and thought it was a great idea. I generally don't have the patience f...

Late Intro
Been watching the board for quite a while now and there sure is a lot of real good information and practical experience contributed. I'm on a computer much of the day at work, so I mostly try to avoid it off hours as much as possible. However, my aluminum boat sickness has gotten the best of me and ...

Re: Welding Tricky Corners
Kevin, Thanks for the info and willingness to share your experience, it is quite helpful. I am still very much learning the art of boatbuilding. (it's an expensive education) The MK straight gooseneck showed up yesterday. I was hoping to try it out, but ended up being short on the correct MK tips. h...

Re: Welding Tricky Corners
Kevin, Appreciate the feedback. I agree on the use of rat or mouse holes, hence the consideration of just stopping short and laying down some 5200. In this case, as mentioned, it simply a bulkhead. The structural members all have rat holes. So, the question is what are the thoughts on stopping short...

For what it is worth, I think the Miller helmets have a pretty good rebates going on right now. I have one and really like it. Mine does have a black spot in one corner from a bad drop, but it doesn't really effect line of sight.

Re: Welding Tricky Corners
Kevin,
Sorry, while you were posting the response I was figuring out how to get the photos posted. Was using a Python push/pull with a Miller gooseneck on a 350P, but just upgraded an Alumafeed 350MPa, still using the same gun.

Welding Tricky Corners
Folks, Any good advice on welding tricky corners? It gets pretty tough when you cannot maintain gun angle, gas coverage, and keep uphill. Most times this is not a problem as you are not normally welding into the corner this tight. However, in this case this is a water tight bulkhead. A flexible goos...

Re: Deere dealer?
Hatton is very good, but also try Gregg's diesel in Anacortes and Tri-County in Bellingham. Here is also a good link for others as well. http://www.cascadeengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/JD-MARINE-DEALER-LIST.pdf Also be prepared, reality is diesels aren't cheap, but you can expect to burn 1/2...
