Memorial Day Linesiders
Had to put some time in to finally boat the first keepa's of the season. Sunday night did an an overnight trip in Narragansett Bay, found some nice fish willing to take our eels. Caught these just before the tide went slack. Great fun good eating, fed our guests yesterday afternoon. http://i371.phot...

Best filler wire for 5086?
I have a local welder lined up to add some grab rails to my rig. He's more into bikes then boats and has never welded 5086. He wants to confirm the best rod material to use. Also, anyone know what alloy is used for the console on a Pacific V2025, and if the same filler wire would be used. The consol...

Re: Cutting out for gunnel storage
My v2025 (bought used) does not have the cut outs. If your relying on the extra flotation these provide then hopefully you've already been rescued by the CG!!! ![freedom :scuba:](./images/smilies/scubadiver.gif)
I agree with Welder, getting the foam out will be a PITA. Anyone know if there is a solvent that could help with this.

Re: Aluminum Bass Boat
I remember seeing all welded bass boats at Cabelas in CT this past fall. I can't remember what make, maybe Lowe. They had both a shallow V bass style and jon boat in the all welded format. They looked pretty nice.

Re: Ever used Weld Mount?
Interesting, what you found validates my game plan for some minor work I'll be doing in the spring. I was thinking of doing something very similar on the cheap; using the appropriate 2 part epoxy to adhere corner brackets for a marine cooler in front of my center console, as well as some mountings f...

Hi Relentless, Welcome aboard, this is a great site and community! Lots of New England alloy and happy Pacific owners on this site, I can't give you any reasons why not to buy a Pacific. In August I bought a used 20' Pacific with 140hp Johnson (made by Suzuki) and absolutely love it. I wish I could ...

The top black line is the 100 fathom line, the middle line is the 500-fathom and the bottom one is the 1000 fathom line. When you see water like that EGE on the 100 line it is the best fishing.mtyThat is the Marty, thanks for the info this is great learning for me as almost all my salt experience i...

Re: winter storage
Hey Nuke, isn't not covering our boats one of the reason we got them in the first place? What the hell sense does it make to buy a tank and go and cover it with some plastic. Cover or fill the holes and let mother nature keep the critters out. You are correct Sir  This is how I was thinking, a...

Have you tried acetone? It worked great in cleaning up some residues on my boat. No compatibility issues with Al.

winter storage
Any opinions on the need to cover a plate alloy boat over the winter, most people (glass boats) in the Northeast wrap or cover their boats. I am able to store the boat in the middle of a field, away from falling leaves etc. I don't see a reason to be concerned about snow, I'm going to put the traile...

Hi Clambo,
Welcome aboard. Glad you found the AAB site, I'm the guy that told you about it at the ramp. Good suggestion of a NE Alloy meet and greet, I'm in.

Interesting, thanks. Some sort of atmospheric interference seems reasonable since I have never had problem before and seems to be working perfectly now and I could find nothing wrong. Its an isolated one time incident so far.

Re: More people looking at the Metal boat
I was walking back to the truck after a long day in Boston with friends and saw this guy sitting among all the big pretty boats at Rows wharf. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t99/21FTCC/Blacklab-Rows-1.jpg That's funny, that's Tin Cup. I had it down there for the weekend for use with a few frien...

Re: GPS could not find or keep signal
The mystery continues, I put a meter on both batteries, they are perfectly charged. I checked all the connections again, everything is tight and clean. The GPS turned on and worked perfectly. I also checked the power requirement spec on my GPS unit, 10-32VDC input, this to me rules out a power suppl...

Re: How bout a new name for the "monster"
Hi v26wa, I'm in Upton (next to Hopkinton) and have been trailering mostly to Boston Harbor or Narraganset, depending on the weather. I called Kentfab a few weeks ago, they never called me back. I will check into CMI. I got a good feeling from the guy at RK Welding in Bourne, he specializes in alumi...

Re: GPS could not find or keep signal
Interesting, I'll check it out. Yes it worked fine after a period of 20 min or so. I run everything on the boat with 2 batteries via a battery selector switch, pretty standard set-up I think. Everything is not much; gps/sounder, vhf, motor and hydraulics, lights and horn. Thanks, Eric PS I'm no golf...

GPS could not find or keep signal
Last Sunday, I went out for the afternoon in Narraganset Bay. Light wind, heavy clouds and periods of rain from the hurricane that had just blown east of us, beautiful fishing weather. Upon launching, my GPS (Garmin 2006C) could not pick up the satellites. I checked the wires then rebooted and reboo...

Re: How bout a new name for the "monster"
Its a great name. My wife threw it out there after we (she) had already already named ours Tin Cup, my 20' Pacific is more of a Tin Cup so I kept it. Figured I'd offer up Precious Metal for a local in need. On a side note, I'm planning on having some work done on the boat this winter. Can you recomm...
