We use Uflex steering systems. The cylinder looks likes its made nicer. the helm body is cast steel so there is less wear over time. the big plus is there a little cheaper

Unless the boat has a generator and A/C you may want some of those windows to open.

Re: water resuce boat 24'
I'll get some pictures as we rig the boat.
We built a similar hull last year with a 150hp. With 4 people the boat did 30 knots. A 200 hp would be nice and we offered it to them. It was all about the money.

water resuce boat 24'
We took advantage of a break in the weather to acid wash our latest project. We are ready to rig a 24' rescue boat for a local fire department. The department purchased a 150hp Yamaha 4 stroke for the local dealer to install. I didn't want some clown to cut holes in my dash board so we'll mount ever...

Re: wanna start a boat building company?
That's a lot of overhead if you don't have a big government contract. I wish I was on the west coast to go to the auction. We have kicked around the idea of a cnc router for some of our in -house fabrication. A miller 350p welder for the right price would be a home run.I wonder if there selling any ...

Re: pump-out boat
Thanks, The hull was designed by Bill Lincoln @Response Marine. He designed the boat to hold the 420 gallon(3000lb) of sh%#. Its a big 23' The sides are high and its 8'9" without the fenders. This would be a cool 26 ft'er with twin 150 hp Honda Our next boat is a19' tri hull with a cabin. That'...

pump-out boat
We just delivered a new 23' pump-out to a local town near us. It has a 420 plastic tank under the deck. That was the hard part. There is a 12v diaphragm pump under the console. The boat runs nice with the 200hp optimax Mercury .The town gets 5 years on the non-alloy boats before the have to start gl...

Re: How to fix leaky windows?
If they have always leaked , there might be the wrong size rubber used. We have seen that more than once. The glass is usually 1/4" and then what ever thickness the house is made from. A 50ft box of rubber of around a $100. You would have to know how much smaller the glass is compared to the op...

We use 2" duct board. depending on the facing material it can be USCG approved. Its available from your local HVAC supply company . It cuts with a sharp knife and has a little flexibility to push in between the frames. If the insulation is going to be more outside (overheard console ) Styrofoam...

1500 hr is not unrealistic..its kind of depends on the level of finish work. We always seem to do ok on time building the hull and cabin, but then get killed with the finish work. Think 3 experienced guy could build a nice boat in 3-4 months

If there is a clean flat surface on the back you could try 3M VHB tape. VHB stands for very high bond. We have used it on two pieces of aluminum that we couldn't tear apart. This isn't Home Depot foam tape.We buy it from McMaster Carr or Grainger .

you really have to look at how the money is used. Local town bay constables don't need 250K boat to run around burning 50 gallons an hour. In our small body of water here we have. National Park Service NYS Dept Environmental Conservation County Police (6^ SAFE Boat and a new 48' Sea Ark Town Po;ice ...

Re: Jetty's favorite boat company just keeps growing
The only thing good about Safe boat during the Hudson River Crash is there low to the water. It made it easier for the people to climb up on the bigger ferry. A 31' Sade Boat couldn't hold 10 people without putting them on the roof. If FDNY wants to carry people they need to call NY Waterways. They ...

You may find it easier to repair the paint along the waterline. The hull might not to to bad to blast. To do the cabin might be more than you bargained for. We plastic beaded a hull and the epoxy paint did bot come off that easy.

That hatch is made by Bomar. I think I paid $170. 00 for the last one I installed on a boat. Mcmaster Carr is a great source but they don't discount items
One of these days we're going to write a program for the CNC and make bunch of these. It has to cost a lot less than $170.

That heavy non skid takes a lot of time to sandblast. You could take a 7" grinder with some 36 grit to knock some of the non skid down and then have it blasted. Sand blasting is all about time ,at $200/ hr, the less time, the less money. You could just grind down the deck at your leisure. Welde...

What about the area where the thousand of nubbs touch?? That area will hold the moisture against the hull . I like watertight bulkheads and no foam.

Re: How Do I Fix This???
filling the bullet (exhaust tube ) with water is a good idea. The dealer usually brings them to us stripped. If just the bottom is broken, you can just weld a piece on and fair it in . I'd cleanup the edge and vee it it back some. I might start with a 3/8" thick plate and sand( taper) it to the...
