That boat isn't far from me . I 'd be happy to take a look for you. Also could build you a new cabin or console.

Re: Damn! Now rubber side rails???
Dave , You need to go to the local adult education class and learn to weld. Not sure what they used but we use Duramax "D" rubber. You tack a angle track on the boat, insert the rubber and cap it with another angle. Weld it all up. Lasts for year. Make sure you leave a few weep holes in th...

Its all good, very nice work. You couldn't do a job like that in plastic and make it look that nice. When your ready just un-bolt the top and slide the new aluminum hull right underneath .

Re: 5454 alloy
5454 aluminum alloy has better mechanical properties than 5052 and it typical used to tank truck bodies. Although it has good corrosion properties,I don't think that its as good as 5086 H116. The H116 process helps prevent crevice crack and inter-granular corrosion. Unless your getting the material ...

Re: New RBM Mockup just sold
Someone with some time and money could open up that top deck and weld it out. There are hundreds of thousands of your tax dollar there.Even if there are a bunch of pieces missing from the engines, there's a lot of them there. I would be curious as to the final bid price. I would consider it a retire...

Jetty, Hook that boat to the back of your truck and drive about 16hours north . Come in the summer when its hot as hell down there. We have fish here too. I'm sure you could hook -up with a few guys a little further north and we'll get a removal-able cabin on your boat. I'm sure we could get Bill @R...

Cut off square tube weld a larger doubler plate at the base , possibly bend a lip down to spread out the load use a larger pipe and put two or three short pipe between the base and top . Ladder look like "GrandFab" recommend create some sort of stiffener port to starboard. Maybe it could b...

Re: armstrong cat listing
Jetty,
Not only is the price of fuel a problem, what about the price of aluminum?? Your government announces that its building 10 new aluminum combat ships (417' ?) and the price of aluminum goes up 25 cents a pound. And it will be harder to get "big" plates to build small boats.

Cost for the cutting file.?

Re: New 33' cat in the Netherlands
Jetty, I rented a 4 door Toyota diesel pick-up truck in Honduras. The thing got 50 MPG!!! Wait two more years, diesels in boats are going to have to meet Tier 3 and Tier 4 emissions. When they get to tier 4 level the exhaust/emission system will be as much as the engine and take up more room. Don't ...

Re: Is there a US market for this boat?
I think the first question is there any market to sell boats. Here on the east coast of the US it hard to sell an aluminum boat in the recreational market. A 17' foot boat will only sell to the entry level market. Now add a second motor to the price,I think there isn't going to be a market for recre...

Re: Aluminum box?
Its a good time to think about these types of projects. We were told aluminum is going up .25 / lbs next month. you could probably make the box out of one 4 x 12 sheet of 1/8" 5052. [(4x12=48x1.7/sqft x $2.25 =$183.60)AAB member price].Johns probably right for the time if you don't have to invo...

Non-boat alloy project
We are always looking for project to fill in between boat builds. We built and installed a 8' truck body on a 2004 GMC p/u . Most of the body is made from 3/16" 5052. The truck is short wheel base, but the customer wanted a 8' bed so that he can transfer it to a bigger truck down the road. The ...
