That's where I found her (in Alaska). I like looking at the Alaskan Craigslist adds because I love all the industrial looking alloy boats up there. I would of bought at least 8 boats up there vs. having a new one built accept for the cost of shipping.

Mill Scale ?
O.K. I was enjoying reading some of the threads here and the term "mill scale" keeps coming up. I looked it up but still don't understand it other than it's not a beneficial thing for aluminum or any kind of metal. Can someone put it in laymen terms so the likes of me (challenged :deadhors...

the "Sweet Spot"
O.k. guys, finally got the boat wet today and started breaking in my motor. My boat is definitely no speed demon (topping out @ 27mph today) and I'm o.k. with that. I was wondering what do you guys consider to be your "SWEET SPOT" in relation to your speed and RPM's. My boat seems super ha...

Re: Hull Floatation
Cut out your deck, apply desired floatation material, patch the deck, pressurize= airtight deck with floatation. good as new. I don't know what I'm talking about, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done? Talk to your hull's manufacturer 1st (I guess). I've seen aluminum decks cut and fabr...

Re: Abu Garcia Ambassadeur RECORD
My Tigers have aluminum guides (which I love), but I'm noticing that I'm not seeing them around anymore??? The 2012 models have the black plastic inserts. I still see the random Tiger w/ the aluminum guides but I think they are just "leftovers?" Does anybody else know?

Re: Another alloy purchase
I'm no expert, but I'd say it's a dying breed. The wooden boat builders still use the motor well here and there, and I think I've seen a couple of aluminum examples over the years. I think there are a couple traditional builders in the New England/Maine area that still builds them new as well as a b...

I'm a big Ugly Stick fan too. I especially like my US Tiger and Tiger Lite rods for vertical jigging sea bass and lings out on the Sunken Jetty. Most of mine are in the 15lb-30lb. and 6' tall. All my buddies use "high end" stuff, but I seem to hang with'em just fine.

Re: Another alloy purchase
Many fisherman preferred having their outboard motors placed in a "well" inside the boat rather than off the transom for various reasons such as: # netting- you could hull a net full of fish off your transom without getting tangled on an outboard or prop # maintenance- you can pop the cove...

I shouldn't have used the word "submerge"; however, I do give'm a fresh water dunk a time or two after a day out on the salt.
